Do the patients my wife is rehabilitating count or does she have to be lunch buddies with them first? They run the full range of age and medical backgrounds though vast majority are/were unvaccinated.

RISD apparently met or is going to meet to reevaluate and might do the same. So tired of this crap.

Plano ISD voting tonight on rules...which...currently are just "strongly recommend mask for all"....our kids will not.

Trying to decide if we go to the Board meeting. Feel like it could be a heavy pro-mask group.

We got a survey for our son in Kindergarten and we told them 1) no mask; 2) no barriers.

Also, meet the teacher was this AM...i would say 50/50 on masks. Shockingly high number of certain ethnic groups. Few of the "i wear a mask" Facebook moms had it on chin in case they needed to appear to care but most left them down the entire time as I guess they would not get enough social justice points....

RISD doesn't have anything on the agenda for tonight's board meeting about the policy, but may need to show up any way. I will raise ever living hell if there is a mask mandate on my kindergartener.

Need to talk to the lawyers that sued Katy ISD last year.

She is making the right choices....not a huge fan of her *sigh* and "her being sad about optional"

Not sure if this is a positive message (correct decisions) or negative message (clearly wants it different)

For anyone going to the board meetings tonight.

I would present the points from the following article.

The case against mask for kids written by:
Dr. Makary is a professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, editor-in-chief of Medpage Today and author of "The Price We Pay". Dr. Meissner is chief of pediatric infectious diseases at Tufts Children's Hospital

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wsj.com/amp/articles/masks-children-parenting-schools-mandates-covid-19-coronavirus-pandemic-biden-administration-cdc-11628432716

"CDC reports that for the week of July 31 the rate of hospitalization with Covid for children 5 to 17 was 0.5 per 100,000"

Statistically RISD will likely not have one student hospitalized from Covid.

I have our speech written up and may layer in some of that.

I am also highlighting Obama's own Advisory Board Member who stated cloth face coverings are not very effective.

I suck at math....based on that, assuming, weekly and assuming lets just say 50K students (i know its less), then would a school district expect 1 hospitalization per month (4 weeks)

Your assuming they all have COVID. That's the rate for kids WITH covid.

Also, not sure its supposed to be applied weekly; thats just the latest rate available from the CDC.

Yes if 99,000 students all got covid, less than 1 would be statistically likely to be hospitalized. If every one of the 37,817 RISD students caught covid, approximately 0.19 students would get covid. You would have a better chance of beating AA preflop with your 76 than you would any of the kids in the entire school district being hospitalized if you pumped covid air in through every school's A/C and fed them all covid ice cream.

Good strategy. Infect and kill all the board members so they can't vote.

More and more, home schooling is a better option for parents, students and teachers. Sad the ISDs and Boards don't appreciate that they are pushing their customers away from their already mediocre services.

Update on the meeting and Karen vs sane % in attendance.

27 people signed up to speak.

I would guess about 20 - 23 actually spoke.

2 were mask-choice (including me).

The rest...you guessed it....

I will say some people simply wanted more support for remote which honestly if it keeps the mask discussion out of the schools I am nearing saying f- it and waste the money to keep them happy and keep masks off my kids.
