I thought the title was appropriate.

Looks like our starting five are set

PG: Lin
SG: Martin
SF: Parsons
PF: Patterson
C: Asik

The 8 man and the 10 man is what is still up in the air. Tony Douglas is the backup point, and Jeremy Lamb will get some minutes at two when Lin and Douglas arent in together. Carlos Delfino looks to have locked up the backup SF spot. In the paint, I have no idea who is going to get minutes. Jones looks good, White has promise, Morris has a chance, and then theres D-Mo.

After that, the depth looks like Shaun Livingston, Machado, Forbes, and Greg Smith. Then after them you have JuJuan Johnson and Jon Brockman.

I think our first team can compete with a lot of teams. We even have some decent depth with Lamb, Jones, D-Mo, White, Douglas, and Delfino.

But when you are asking three rookies and two spares to either hold a lead, hold a slight deficit, or not lose.. it can get shaky.

I think the Rockets are a top 10 lottery team this year. Maybe even top 5.

What's ironic is despite Morey's love for PF's, I too have no idea who will step up and give us solid minutes there. We have tons of PF's, yet somehow we also have no depth

Patterson is looking really good and seems like he is playing with that rookie year energy again. All we need is one of Jones (finesse PF with good range), White (point forward type with great passing and multiple scoring tricks), Morris (drafting smarter last year could have gotten us to the playoffs. No hope for his ass), D-MO (inexperienced Dirk type of player) to step up. what I'm worried about is that we don't have that one true figther in the paint like Scola or Landry. More length and athleticism, but less grit and toughness.

The depth at pf will contribute at center. There aren't but a handful of scoring centers in the league anyways. Terrance Jones is the most promising rookie on the team, so I would expect him to be the first guy off the bench for dpatt or asik.

The #1 priority this season MUST be player development. I hope KMart starts out playing well, and he gets traded for an expiring contract or more young talent. By the end of the season we need to have determined which of these young guys are going to be a part of the future.

I think the future is bright with lamb, jones, parsons, patterson, lin, and d-mo. We just need the big one. That one player.

And the draft will have a couple of them

You are correct. In that case, trade him for more youth or a draft pick. I just don't want him taking minutes away from Lamb, and other guys who need the experience.

Ended the preseason 5-2. Delfino looks like a great pickup with his shooting ability. I really like the ball movement between lin, martin, and delfino. Have to guard all three out to the line.

With the trade for Harden, I imagine our depth chart will look something like this:

C: Asik/Aldrich
PF: Patterson/Jones/DMo/White/Morris
SF: Parsons/Livingston/White/Morris
SG: Harden/Delfino/Cook
PG: Lin/Douglas/Machado


That's not a bad lineup. Asik and Aldrich don't provide us with all star offense, but they protect the rim well which is something we haven't had since Yao retired. And with Harden and Lin to go alongside Parsons, I think our backcourt can be very good. This should be a fun team to watch.

I'm skeptical on whether White can play the 3. He's an excellent ball handler, but he's also really slow. So I see it like this:

PG: Lin, Douglas, Machado
SG: Harden, Delfino, Cook, Douglas
SF: Parsons, Delfino, Cook, Morris
PF: Patterson, Jones, D-Mo, White
C : Asik, Aldrich, D-Mo

I wouldn't be surprised if Patterson gets beat out by Jones or D-Mo (especially Jones) at some point or if he gets traded.

Its gonna be a long season but I am actually excited to see how these guys develop as a team. Hopefully ATT will get off their a** and strike a deal with CSN Houston so I can watch.

Edit to add this: I don't understand why I can 100% 24/7 non-stop coverage of everything t-sip athletics has to offer but I can't get CSN Houston to watch the Rockets every other night for a few hours. ATT better get their act together and get this sh** figure out.
