Why? If you're already getting blown out by an embarrassing margin, would you want another team to salt that wound by gunning for a record to close out a game that was already over 10 minutes earlier?

You also have to consider that the intentional fouling didn't begin until Beverley mashed that last one down the lane and stared down their bench resulting in a tech.
If he wasn't going to intentionally foul before then, he sure as hell wasn't going to let them get the record after that.

Yeah, but every game isn't a 30-point blowout on the road with the potential for an NBA record being accomplished against you and the notoriety, real or imagined, that comes with it. Context. Not sure why this is so hard for you guys to understand?

We had 4 guys in the game who never get to play. Record or not, blowout or not, they wanted to play hard and get their minutes. If you dont them to score, then guard them better. This isn't high school where you have to pull up because you might hurt their little feelings. Intentionally fouling just shows complete butthurt on the Warriors end, and listening to the coach afterward.. it had nothing to do with anything other than him getting his ass beat, being butthurt about it, and being too prideful to coach his guys the right way.
Also, if you are worried about us blowing a team out and then still trying to score, wouldnt constant intentional fouling be worse than any normal scoring with time elapsing?

Being able to see the perspective of another team/coach not being happy about the Houston Rockets pursuing an essentially meaningless record in garbage time and presenting this argument on a Houston Rockets thread full of Houston Rockets fans is considered "dissenting" and therefore not understanding.

The Rockets were just trying to give their crowd what they wanted. Before the chanting, they were in their offense and shot their 3s after dribble penetration. Greg Smith was posting up in the last couple minutes. The crowd started chanting and the Rockets tried to make them happy. The NBA is all about the fans and that's what the Rockets were doing. It's like trying to score 100 to get free tacos.
The technical on the dunk was probably not the most classy but who the f cares. I hate that classy crap. The Warriors reaction was even worse almost taking Beverley's head off trying to foul him.

The argument isn't about Golden State not being okay with the Rockets scoring on them (clearly). It's about that last three. If you have an entire arena cheering on this record while your team is getting its face stomped in, would you want to give it up? Would you want to be known as the team that gave up the most threes in NBA history? Especially if the last three was in the last minute being down by 30? Hell no.
Again, the issue isn't scoring. That's why they let Beverley part that Red Sea of a defense and yam one down the middle.
It's the record. Nobody wants to be on the other side of a record especially if the game is already out of hand and the record wouldn't be obtained in the natural flow of the game.
It's the same reason why nobody is mad if LeBron drops a triple double on them. It happens. But it's also the same reason why DeShawn Stevenson will put Ricky Davis on his ass for trying for that triple double after the game was already decided.

But there is a difference between being pissed and trying to stop someone from setting a record, and being butthurt and INTENTIONALLY fouling the second they get the ball.

I know what you're saying Ninja. I have no problem with what the Warriors did but also no problem with what the Rockets did. This just adds to the story and will make next weeks game more exciting.
I had to do a double take when I got the ESPN final score update on my phone. 140 points is just a great shooting performance.
I look at this way. I am in the camp that thinks if you are not happy with what is happening to you on the court and you are embarrassed by it THEN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Stop them on defense, guard the 3-ball, and put your hands up on D. The Warriors had nobody to blame but themselves for that butt-whoopin. Even Chandler Parsons tweeted after the game "Hand down, Man down." A jab at Mark Jackson.

It is not bush league for the rockets to try and break the record and continue running up the score. They are professionals, they should be able to handle it.
It is also not bush league for the Warriors to intentionally foul. It was all within the laws of the game...even the foul that Beverley flopped on. No one wants to be on the receiving end of that...even if no one remembers who the team that gave up the record was.
It's a shame I missed this game. Will be watching us give the Heat a run for their money tonight.
