This is true, but he's a player, too. I was really hoping the Spurs would find a way to snap him up. Partly because he's a great prospect, partly because then they would have three players from Oceania.

Parker's injury is OK. He says he is ready.

If Ibaka is out the Thunder have no chance. I'm not even ashamed to admit that I'm really hoping this is true and the Spurs get a nice gift. The human side of me, of course, hopes Ibaka is OK and he gets to do what he's worked hard for all year.

Yeah, Ibaka has been the difference in my mind. He dominates the paint against the Spurs. All the Splitter/Diaw inside game goes away with Ibaka in there. He also is light out on those elbow jumpers. I still have nightmares of his 11 for 11 performance two years ago in game five.

should be a good series. just have to make them earn it and can't give up bad turnovers leading to easy fast break points...looking at you Manu. also need to keep them off the foul line; believe they were the second best free throw shooting team after Portland.

Thunder say forward Serge Ibaka is expected to miss the remainder of the 2014 postseason with a left calf injury.

Confirmed, Ibaka out.

No link yet, it's breaking on OKC radio.

Big. Maybe huge. Duncan and Splitter can stay in the paint protecting the rim instead of having to follow Ibaka out 15-18 feet from the basket. Perkins, Adams, and Collison can have those shots all day.

That's also the third leading scorer on a two man team. They are going to need Reggie Jackson to step way up.

That's huge for the Spurs......should open up the Spurs offense and make playing defense just a little bit easier.

Of course, if Tony is nowhere near 100%... the Spurs may still get by OKC. But if they don't end this series quickly and Tony is limping into the Finals, you can forget about any chance at beating the Heat.

Wow. Ibaka was the sole reason OKC would play good defense against the Spurs. He could switch and guard Tony or Manu on the perimeter. Without him, Tony will have an easier time getting into the paint and Tim and Tiago will have an easier go with posting up if we elect to do that.

Wow. This is going to be extremely interesting to see how OKC plays this. If they insert one of Collison or Adams into the SL then the Spurs will stay the same but OKC could elect to go small and start Durant at the 4. This could force some adjustments from Pop and take Splitter off the court some. If I am OKC this is how I would play it. To counter, I might start Boris. He can stay with Butler on the outside and take advantage of Butler every time down the court offensively. Not sure if Tiago can capitalize on small defenders yet.

Ibaka being out just made Boris Diaw the biggest advantage the Spurs have. OKC will probably play small ball exclusively, cause they can't out Perkins and Adams on the floor at the same time and Collison just clogs the paint up on offense even more. Diaw allows Pop to matchup with small ball lineups while remaining big.

I don't change my starting lineup at all if I'm the Spurs. Put Timmy on Perkins and let Splitter chase around whoever is their #3. Leonard guards Durant, Green guards Westbrook, and Parker guards the #2.

The Spurs would have a huge advantage at the other end of the floor if they just stick to their normal starting lineup. Who the hell will guard Duncan in the block? Perkins would need help every time. Durant would get abused. On top of that, you'd have Splitter at the glass getting boxed out by??? Durant or Butler????

That article about the window of winning a title is looking pretty prophetic right now. There will always be next year, or will there be?

with Ibaka being out, I change my prediction from Thunder in 5 to Thunder in 6.

Ibaka threw los Spurs around like a dirty shirt. 14 blocks in 4 games this year.

I'm thinking this series is done before started.

I don't necessarily disagree but this is not how it has looked in the past. Just look at Miami last year. Splitter hasn't been able to take advantage of the mismatch offensively.

I didn't say anything about Splitter doing anything other than hanging around by the glass. You don't feed Splitter on the block against anyone in your offensive game plan.

I have confidence that Lebron can block Splitter out. I don't think Durant or Butler can.

Splitter played horrible in 2012 against OKC when they had Fisher guarding him extended minutes. He didn't show any advantage on the glass then.

Saying that, I think he's a completely different player now. It's not quite the advantage you make it seem like though.

Now if OKC starts Jackson then it really becomes interesting.

Yes. Thunder in 6 is bringing 5/1 odds right now.

Ibaka out will certainly help us, but we aren't in the clear. It will definitely be interesting to see how Brooks adjusts, I'm fairly certain the only head coach to ever beat Pop more than once in a playoff series is Phil Jackson.

Well, if the Spurs can't take down OKC without Ibaka, then I don't think I'll even be mad. I'll be impressed with the Thunder and that will he that. I don't see any way the Thunder make it to the finals unless the Spurs absolutely go butt cold and give it away.

Ibaka is such a good player for them, I just don't see how they can recover and get past such a talented and well coached Spurs team. They say every championship comes with a little luck... Well, we certainly lucked out here. Big time!
