this is one i might have ventured to the theater to see, but as we have HBO Max, it's hard to pass up for "free".

How do you stream it on TV? Literally just got HBO Max on Sunday... our LG smart TV doesn't have it. Roku doesn't have it. All I heard was mirror it from phone app and haven't figured it out.

They finally added it to our fire stick. But if you get the HBO Max app on your phone or iPad you should be able to cast it to your TV when watching a video, look for this icon and click it and you should see your TV as an option if in the same room and the TV is "smart" one from the last couple years.

Apple TV 4K. $180. Easily one of the best tech devices/inventions of the past 20 years. For those like myself, who don't own a PlayStation or X-Box, it's a no-brainer. I don't understand why every non-gamer who can afford an Apple TV doesn't own one. There's not an app or platform you can't download on it, there's nothing you can't stream to it, and it all works so simply and intuitively. It's my cable box, my music player, and my streaming device, all in one. I *love* Apple TV...

I would risk trying to complete, at the least, four very dangerous hit jobs for the cartel if it meant I could go on one date with Gal Gadot.

Well I've never been an iPhone user, but the new Chromecast with Google TV is essentially this, but for Google/Android users. (For a fraction of the price, $50.)

I absolutely love it.

You don't have to be an iPhone user to use/get Apple TV. It can be completely separate (though the iPhone *can* double as a remote and offers seamless streaming).

But yeah, Chromecast with Google TV looks pretty cool. I have Google Nest WiFi, and YouTube TV as my streaming provider, so I'd probably be familiar with the basic set-up. My one concern is that it doesn't look like it offers HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Sound, etc.

Blah, blah, HBOMax.

Taking my wife and daughters to see it Christmas Night at the theater.

I far prefer my Xbox or LG tv interface over an Apple TV. My least favorite device I use, although better than my old roku.

If you have youtube TV you can add HBO Max to it.

The only apple device I've ever owned or will own is the old iPod nano I run with.

Roku on our living room and Xbox on the media room.

I think we may go to a theater for this one. Lord knows nobody else is going.

Roku "has" it.

It's essentially a light version of it. That's what I've noticed at home. It has some stuff on there, but not the entire HBOMax offering.
For comparison, it has everything when I run it on the PS4.

Well now it will be.

Good news for my Roku stock. (Purchased last week in anticipation of this news.)

I switched to Google TV a little while back but it'll be good to have it now on my bedroom TV as well.

Saw a sneak preview of this last night in IMAX at AMC, great movie experience, I am so ready for movies to be back. My daughter and I really enjoyed the movie, Kristen Wiig was surprisingly good in this, the action sequences were well done. All in all it was a solid movie right up there with the first one. Can't wait to watch again on HBO Max, but if you get the chance to see it in the theatre you should go.

Wow cool......finally. Although it was solved already by the Roku update with Apple Play.

But it will be nice to have it back on one device.

That was HBO..... not HBO Max. HBO content but no Max (original) content.

But now it will be anyway.

Not for those of us without apple play and the other workarounds.

So this is a good thing

Not seeing HBO Max app this morning. Hmmmmm.

EDIT - SOLVED

If you do not see HBO Max in the Channel store on Roku... reset your device. The sticks have a little reset button on them.

Mine only showed up after a reset. Well it was in the Channel Store. When I selected it it had a Go to Channel link and when I clicked that it opened it. then when I went back to my homescreen it had updated the old HBO app to the HBOMax app.

I understand you can also navigate to the old HBO app and hit update and that works.

I have the HBO Max app on my iPad and have a lightning to HDMI adapter and just stream it from my iPad to the TV. Nothing else needed.

sure but... that adapter ($49) costs more than a Roku Express ($22) or Roku Premier ($27) with 4K. There are more expensive Roku's too but either of those is great.

Other benefits:

1. No adapters needed and you can still use your iPad while watching anything.
2. No connecting cables, or changing inputs on the TV, etc. (simple for my wife who is tech illiterate)
3. Not to mention there are literally thousands of completely free channels on various apps.

The bang for you buck is unparalleled.

FYI that's 12 noon..... not midnight.

I should have known that but I thought it was midnight at first - like a late premier to give the theaters first chance..

Saw official HBOMAX tweet that cleared it up for me.

Bookmarked for future reference as we're deciding to get Apple TV or not. Is that $180 per month or is that a one-time cost? Do you need one of those per TV?

I plan to see WW84 in the theater in IMAX as soon as I can.
