Right?! Their animated stuff is nails and have many things to work from but they come up with live action crap a majority of the time.
This is what I find odd about the DCEU in general.

You have DECADES of great stories and some incredibly talented writers working in comics today, get someone like Scott Snyder or Kyle Higgins, pair them with a screenwriter and deliver a compelling, character driven story.

This isn't some secret formula here.

Do I have to watch the first 1,983 Wonder Woman movies to understand the plot of this one?

I would recommend watching the 1 Wonder Woman movie before this one and not watch this one at all. WW84 is not tied to any other DCEU content whatsoever and is essentially Bobby waking up in the shower.

Even Paul Dini or Bruce Timm. Hell, let's get Grant Morrison up in here!

Anyone else's image quality fluctuate wildly while streaming this?

Have never had issues with Netflix or Disney+.

I'd give this the same 2-word review that was given to the Spinal Tap album Shark Sandwich.

I thought we had a few weird glitches too but didn't know whether to chalk it up to relative's connection or not.

Yup, there's ton of great options. Geoff Johns has been involved some but I'm not sure to what extent on the writing/story side.

I'm familiar

I feel like on Justice League it felt like a movie made by committee and that was later confirmed, and it sounds like the first WW film had similar issues as recently confirmed by Patty Jenkins.

This film, however, sounded like what she really wanted to make so not sure if there's anywhere else to place the blame here. Or we may just be at a point where the executive influence is too much to overcome in the DCU.

I wonder if this will scrap plans like have happened before with the DCEU. It's down to 6.0 on IMDB and 59 on metacritic.

As much as I enjoy what Johns and a lot of those comic creators have done in the comics world, I don't agree that DC needs comic people. They need better movie people. Wonder Woman 84 is a poorly made movie. Felt like a 3 episode miniseries with the poor pacing. That comes down to cutting down the script and editing. There's a good story somewhere in here that doesn't take 2.5 hours to be told.

On the bright side, this made me more excited for Marvel to be back in the competent superhero game with DC getting the spotlight in 2020.

I think people should go back and watch green lantern again. No way this is worse.

The biggest problem with this movie was that there was an "Operation Wolf" game in the arcade. That game didn't come out until 1987, and it took me right out of it.

This was no where near as good was the original. I was still entertained, but honestly this movie had such an awful lack of plot and you can't just have stylized shots of Gal Gadot doing her thing to make up for that. I don't think that it was bad, because I think Kristen Wigg did a great job and Pascal as well.

The movie also felt really uneven. The first half was great, but the second half was meh.

On the technical front, my stream was perfect and man the sound mix was GREAT. My home theater performed way better with this film than with Tenet.

It isn't that "DC needs comic people", they need someone who can tell a story because as a whole their films haven't done that well and the "movie people" they've got there currently aren't getting it done. So why not talk to the people that are currently doing a killer job of it?

And I don't know that there really is a good story in WW1984 to be honest, or there's at least dozens of better ones that could be told without taking us into "wish" category. This wasn't a case of cutting out a few bits here and there, it was a case of logically connecting events together in an appealing way and it wasn't that close.

Yeah I think you're exactly right Fig. There just wasn't much storytelling here. It was very disjointed and not well executed.

You people really aren't painting a rosy picture on this. I personally don't care for comic book movies (sans Nolan Batman). But the daughter is twelve and girl power and all that crap. I guess we will wait for something else.

If you check literally all critical thinking at the door, you can enjoy the flashing lights and cool poses. That might be enough for your 12-year-old. Watched it with my 14 and 13-year-old daughters as well as my everyone-buys-her-wonder-woman-stuff wife, and they all despised it. I'm pretty sure this made them all question whether women should be allowed to make movies.

Fun movie. Enjoyed it. The Wonder Woman movies are pretty much the only DC movies I can tolerate from start to finish. Pedro pascal was great. It felt like a 1980s cheesy plot

I enjoyed the movie more than part 1. It felt like a throwback to the classic Superman movies to me. Admittedly, I'm into 80's cheese, and if you're not, I could see people not digging it.

My major complaint is the music not being nearly as cool as in the first movie. Her original theme is just so badass and it never really plays in its original form.

Villain was obviously a major improvement from the first one.

I'd probably place it behind MoS, BvS, and Shazam. But way ahead of the others in the DCEU.

Edit: Probably behind Aquaman, too.

This movie wasn't very entertaining. Listed a few things that took away from that

1. Didn't use the period correctly.
2. Overall character for Pascal was over the top to the point lf being more annoying than anything else
3. The whole wish thing ..and things just appearing , but with chris pine he takes over a body
4. Wiigs character I thought was going good until the very end where she takes her final turn

The worst part about this going to streaming is that we can't get any Schadenfreude from seeing the box office numbers tank. They'll never disclose how many streams it got. I'm really curious to see what this would have done in a normal theatre run.

My wife hated it. She actually broke the seal first during the movie about how bad it was. From there it became more entertaining commentating on it.

Not a fan of most comic movies. Last year nothing else was on so I watched the first WW just to see what the buzz had been about and it is ass. I can't believe it was popular. Gadot is hot and that is the only enjoyment I got out of it.

They're comic book movies, so they're never very good. The best comic book movies are probably B-, and most of them are C-, but this ones an F. It's no fun ripping a boring C- movie, but killing an F is an entire industry (mst3k, hdtgm, etc) onto itself. Everyone can enjoy the dog pile.

BTW, I get that all of these just print money (invalidating the rest of this post), but you'd think that Hollywood would realize that the success of these movies (nolan batman films are sort of the exception) comes from casting a funny/smart-ass that can poke fun at the slight ridiculousness of super heroes in general. Downey and Ryan Reynolds did that. Many of the other male super heroes are just as pretty, but just as uninteresting as Gal Godot (who is gorgeous).

Could be some smoke to the thought they knew they had a crap movie on their hands and decided to blunt the inevitable second week, massive fall off.

They did this by getting Gunn to redo Suicide Squad. I'm very interested to see how that works out now.
