Apple TV 4K. $180. Easily one of the best tech devices/inventions of the past 20 years. For those like myself, who don't own a PlayStation or X-Box, it's a no-brainer. Yeah, I've been seeing some pretty underwhelmed reactions on Twitter as well.
I haven't read any reviews but I wonder (ha) if people will be more critical of this since it's really the first real blockbuster since everything COVID went down.. Are they going in expecting too much?

From what I gather, apparently the plot doesn't make a whole lot of sense. That's the consistent critique I keep seeing. Things are just kind of hand-waved away. And when you have a plot involving, say, the ageless return of Chris Pine's character, who died like 70 years ago, if something like that isn't explained well, I can see it being an issue. I'm not saying that's the case, but I get the sense this script isn't as tight or as good as the last go around. Not that Wonder Woman was a masterpiece or anything, but I recently rewatched it for the first time since the theater and was surprised by how good the vast majority of it is. I remember being so-so on my initial viewing, but it really holds up, to the point where even the CGI-fest of a final act didn't bother me much. The whole thing is so epic in scope, the production design is incredible, and the story is so thematically sound. I really dug it, and it sucks that the sequel may not live up to the hype. Looking forward to finding out for myself tomorrow, though.
I think more than anything I'm fascinated to see Kristin Wiig in this movie. That seems like either a complete failure or she's awesome.
I've also been seeing that the movie is just a little too long. They probably could have cut down 15-20 minutes off of the movie.

Hasn't pretty much every DC movie been like that? We're going to see it next week but I am already trying to temper my wife's expectations. She loved the first one.

What's the harm in coming to trust certain critics/friends/etc who share similar opinions as our own over time? That doesn't mean we take their opinions as gospel, or can't form opinions on our own. But the best critics are literally experts in their field, are capable of making valid arguments, and can often voice/pinpoint issues that some of us feel but aren't able to express on our own at times. I think it's equally as weird to plug your ears and pretend to watch movies in a vacuum. Just because we're interested in the larger conversation about how a movie is being received publicly doesn't mean we're not able to enjoy what the majority doesn't or vice versa.
I suppose I don't let others influence my own personal enjoyment, but I definitely use it to determine if I'm going to spend money to watch it sooner or even watch it all. If I like it nothing much will change that. Man of Steel is a good movie from my viewpoint that others love to hate. If I see a movie has a viewer rating of 20% on RT or a 4/10 on IMDB though why bother wasting time/money.

Who's doing that, though? Do you not understand the concept of discussing "hey this movie looks interesting to me so I'm curious if early reviews are generally positive or negative"?

I don't know about Pedro being wrong... but every time I see Wiig I think about Richard Pryor in Superman 3.
40 minutes in, and this is such a weird, cheesy movie. It's fun, though! And it's not necessarily bad either. But nothing of consequence has really happened yet. Also, please tell me that the MacGuffin isn't basically what amounts to a genie in a bottle?
I agree. The first movie was much better and ww84 did not use its soundtrack as well as WW

If so, I picked up on that as well. Wasn't a bad use but I noticed it as well.
ETA: wasn't bad but it was a far cry from the first one. I'm sad to say I'm glad I didn't buy tickets.
