Adagio in D Minor?

If so, I picked up on that as well. Wasn't a bad use but I noticed it as well.

ETA: wasn't bad but it was a far cry from the first one. I'm sad to say I'm glad I didn't buy tickets.
Yes. That track has such a strong association with Sunshine that I found it distracting to be reused for the purpose it was here, instead of letting the actual composer score that moment.

As for your ETA: Mrs C@LAg commented the movie felt like a direct-to-blu ray release. Which I guess it kind of was.

Yeah. It is distinct for the end of Sunshine for sure. Funny thing was that I made a pandora station based off of Max Richter's On the Nature of Daylight but Adiago in D minor was my favorite song to come from that playlist but I couldn't remember what movie it was from despite seeing Sunshine a few times and loving it. When I was looking it up I was certain it was from something else other than that.

I kinda considered it like Sabatoge from Beastie Boys, just been in so many things that it's original film use got lost but not the case with Sunshine.

Ten minutes into the Steve Trevor resurrection and this is officially some of the most random sh*t I've ever seen in a blockbuster. Steve Trevor just took over another dude's body? So is that guy dead now? Or did he trade places with Steve and go to whatever afterlife situation Trevor was in? What the the hell is going on? They literally went with "Diana wishes on a magic rock for Steve Trevor to live again and he comes back in other dude's body" like some twisted '80s body swap comedy as the plot for Wonder Woman 2???

It wasn't bad but very lackluster for something that should have been a lot better. Wiig was awful as usual. The whole plot felt like a collection of other stories. Aladdin + wonder woman. Liked some of the 80s stuff.

That was a really interesting character for Pascal. Part loser, part bad guy with a game show host vibe.

Wait, seriously? It's weird enough that an hour in there hasn't been single '80s pop song, but they don't even use an original score for the climax, and go instead with a track from another movie said track is notoriously associated with?

I wondered that. Lots of questions about Trevor's return

Its obviously supposed to be something totally consensual between Trevor and Diana. I feel like its a massive stretch there....which probably means it'll be all anyone takes from the movie.

I liked it. Not quite as good as WW and as with everyone else, it was a dumb to take Adagio from Sunshine. That film is one of my favorite, especially that track and I don't associate it with anything else

Halfway through, and I don't know if I can make it another hour and fifteen minutes. May have to finish it later. This just isn't a good or compelling movie...

I've also been seeing that the movie is just a little too long. They probably could have cut down 15-20 minutes off of the movie.
They should have cut about 146 minutes off of the movie. First 10 minutes was fairly entertaining.

Zach Snyder wishes he were this dark.

From this article, about the same subject

While I understand the sentiment, no single straight man is going to be raped by Gal Gadot.

Outrage pendulum swings both ways.

Went for a run and thought about the movie. When I got back, my son was watching Jurassic Park III and it reminded me of the straight to DVD comment. It wasn't a bad movie and I'm sure I'll find some of it nostalgic, but it's just such a far cry from the original it leaves a bad taste for what would otherwise be an ok movie.

There wasn't a hint of 80s pop culture. That was half the reason I wanted to watch it.

Phew, that was rough to watch. Great to be back in a movie theater with the family tonight, but we were all just sitting there waiting for it to be over.

Of the recent DC I've seen, I'd go

1) Man of Steel
2) Wonder Woman

3) Shazam

4) Bats vs. Supes

5) WW84, ahead of Aquaman solely because I did not fall asleep during WW84, and I intentionally fell asleep during Aquaman.

6) Fish face Mcgee

7) Justice League

Never been able to watch Suicide Squad all the way through.

I'll never understand letting someone random person's review influence your level of enjoyment of a movie.

What's the harm in coming to trust certain critics/friends/etc who share similar opinions as our own over time? That doesn't mean we take their opinions as gospel, or can't form opinions on our own. But the best critics are literally experts in their field, are capable of making valid arguments, and can often voice/pinpoint issues that some of us feel but aren't able to express on our own at times. I think it's equally as weird to plug your ears and pretend to watch movies in a vacuum. Just because we're interested in the larger conversation about how a movie is being received publicly doesn't mean we're not able to enjoy what the majority doesn't or vice versa.
I'm not criticizing it.

I liked it. Definitely cheesy and not as good as the first. I do like the idea of Diana fighting against something you can't punch. They tried to go big and grand in this movie when they didn't need to. Goes to show what happens when you don't have a planned and cohesive direction.

I will say DC needs better script writers. Dialogue has not been a strength.

Aquaman knew what it was and embraced it

And I love it for that. Change the pop music and the mom didn't want me scene and the movie (even with some questionable acting) is even better. I agree it was much better than WW84

Went in having read no reviews/reactions.

Mediocre movie, I would almost say it's bad and I would definitely not recommend it to anyon... and I'll probably never watch it again.

I realize this is a fine line, and I've touched on it before, but there's a world of difference between science fiction disguised as "magic" in movies, and straight up magic in movies with spells and all that bullsh*t. Marvel is just as fantastical, but they at least make an effort to ground even the most far out concepts with some kind of semi-rational explanation, be it the multiverse or the quantum realm or even Asgard, which Thor straight up says is just science that we on Earth can't yet comprehend. But when DC starts talking about literal Greek gods and a freaking rock that grants wishes they just lose me completely. With magic, there simply aren't any stakes because there are never any rules and literally *anything* is possible, in the worst way. Even some kind of expositional line about Zeus being from a realm or alternate dimension that we haven't yet discovered would go a long way. But they've doubled down on this fantasy mumbo jumbo in WW84 to the point where we're somehow supposed to be invested in a story built around a rock that literally grants wishes, and I just don't care AT ALL. I started watching again and I'm at the point where the Egyptian oil dude just conjured a giant ****ing wall out of thin air, and this is all so stupid and pointless and un-engaging. It'd be one thing to have all of this serving some greater purpose toward Diana's arc, but her character absolutely sucks in this movie, is a huge drag so far, and doesn't feel like she's on any kind of greater inner journey or understanding or self-discovery whatsoever.

I'm going to try and finish this thing tonight, but it's probably going to have to be in 15-minute increments until I'm finally done, as this is excruciating. What a terrible sequel. On the bright side, I'm so glad I didn't pay for this in a theater...

We just finished it and I can't believe how f'ing awful this movie was. And I'm the most homerist of reviewers on movies like this.

Worst superhero movie made in the modern era. My wife is still sitting here reading and laughing at all the bad reviews on it and laughing.

Terrible, nonsensical movie. Wow.

Yes. That was bad.
1) the flying was the worse
2) the cameo at the end was horrible and pointless
3) the fact that this took place in the 80's was kind of a non-factor. They could have played that up a little more
4) Pedro was the only good thing in this. I thought he was entertaining and did well for the script he was handed

Let's hope Patti got this out of her system and can catch magic again with SW.
