Cool. I read an abridged version of it in high school and then read sections in the Greek as well as the whole translation when I took a classics course. Not everyone is exposed to it. There's a ton of great literature out there and great Greek literature. The Odyssey is not an easy text to grasp unless you present as just "neat adventure story," which is what most of the abridged versions do.

She spent most of her life in Kenya, then Mexico before coming to the US for college.You can look up the Yale School of Drama Bulletin for 2009-2010 when she first attended and peruse the coursework. With classes mainly covering acting, voice, speech, movement, combat, etc. and one class on Greek tragedy, seemingly focused on plays by Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, and Aristophanes, I'm not sure how she would be exposed.

He's saying online ticket buying is damn near impossible for a number of theaters. Sites/apps are crashing, etc. And I'm saying I'm seeing multiple people confirming the same thing.

Anyone here tried buying tickets yet?

(I got mine last July, when they did that stupid one-day, one-year-in-advance gimmick.)

Just checked all of the local theaters including Imax. Plenty of tickets to be had, most theaters have sold 2 or less for opening night showtimes. Curious...

I'm guessing NY/LA/Chicago are more in-demand. Everywhere else, not as much.

I'm not trying to rain on the parade, but I'd agree that these crazy wait times and sold out theaters are for select theaters (maybe just IMAX theaters?) in the large urban areas like L.A. or N.Y.C. and is being generously extrapolatated to all of America by hollywood reporters and X posters.

Sold out showings for an entire weekend - all theaters in an entire city - simply don't happen in regular places like where I live (and I live in relatively populous Tampa).

My AMC app had me in line to grab a ticket. Finally let me in and the sales for the prime time IMAX Thursday night show aren't really that crazy. Maybe 30% seats sold so far.

The line thing seems unnecessary outside of maybe 10 AMC theaters, all in NY or LA.

Just discovered we have a brand new IMAX theater here. It's the new IMAX with Laser tech so not 70mm though. 3 seats have been sold for Odyssey.

Lol I have a ticket for 2:30AM on a Saturday night. Only tickets for the true IMAX in Dallas left are 2:30AM showings.

Figure my wife and I will see it somewhere else and if I'm not impressed I'll just get a refund

Looked at our local theater just for fun.

The first theater (easily the most popular in town) has sold 16 tickets for the three showings in the XD Theater (capacity for three showings well over 600)..I do believe this is a NYC and LA problem.

This is 100% an LA and NYC thing. I just pulled up Regal Edwards IMAX tickets, here in Houston. There are MANY tickets still available for each showing. Sure, the 30-40% best seats are taken, but that's it.

Just kind of illustrates how all those people who spout their personal opinions or experiences as a fact, on X, are many times just talking from their own little bubble. But now the story will be that The Odyssey is in crazy high demand and was sold out immediately!

At the AMC here is Springfield, MO, one showing is maybe 40% full, the other showings are all basically completely unsold.

Only the 70mm theaters have the highest demand right now. The IMAXs in Houston area are not 70mm

Some of you see the absolute worst, most extremes in everything. No one is "spouting their personal opinions or experiences as a fact." They're simply... chronicling their personal experience, in frustrated fashion. Then I simply posted a few of their reactions as a courtesy/heads up here, in case ticket sales happened to be selling out just the same in Dallas/Houston/etc. Turns out they're not. Great. No need to raise a stink about it.

Really shocked with it being rated R. The young people love their Zendaya, Spiderman, and Pattinson. Feels like you're really slicing the box down.

Nolan actually tried to keep it PG-13, but Odysseus of Boston just wouldn't stop it with the ****, this ****in thing, **** off, this ****in boat, what in the **** armor are these giants wearin', etc.

Hey, I wish I had that problem, because it would mean I have a real IMAX near me. But the closest true 70 mm true IMAX to me is 4 hrs away in Miami. So, you lucky guys with a real IMAX near you get no sympathy!
