Ok enough of a derail, thanks for the replies. In conclusion use GROK because GPT lies.

Does ChatGPT lie or misunderstand more? One is more serious than the other, lol.

FWIW, another name is making the rounds; not the first one that was proven false. Nothing official yet, of course, but one way or another, we'll know soon.

The first officer on the Air Florida flight 90 mishap was a former fighter pilot named Roger Pettit. I can't check the other chatGPT claims because there aren't flight numbers
This is one of the major case studies that is taught in flight training. I've heard the audio several times. Pettit's shout "We're going down, Larry!" is forever ingrained in my mind.

Yeah, I did a presentation on that one to my squadron a couple years ago

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because hard men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Glad they released it.

May she RIP, and may her family be comforted.

Company employee was on the plane, returning home from work rotation.

This has hit me very hard as the reality of you never know what may happen. A very tragic accident.

Saddened by what all these families have to go through and hope they all find peace.

I'm apparently a very terrible person...
Blackhawk drivers apparently...

In seriousness...
This is, regardless of fault or blame, a terrible accident and I pray for peace and comfort for the families of all involved. This is but another reminder at just how precious and fleeting our lives truly are.

May the lessons learned from this tragedy make all of our daily lives and our travels safer.

I think it's even more important for us to allow a grieving family 24 hours to figure things out before we sic the media/politicians/social media on them. Waiting an additional 12 hours for a name isn't going to change anything.

And it got released less than 72 hours after. Color me shocked.

What does it matter that the female helicopter pilot was a Biden White House aide? That is a very dangerous inflammatory statement to make

Regardless of the person in office, I would like to think that getting a WH assignment is a pretty big deal.

She's a Captain, so a 1st Lt possibly when she was assigned?

Rejoining the flight line (or whatever it's called) after an administration assignment? Flying to regain/renew qualifications maybe?

Air traffic control knows the routes cross.

They assigned the pilot to the landing runway. They saw the incoming helicopter and failed to give them clear instructions and failed to identify the incoming plane.

I blame them.

"You watch our for that plane" when there are a dozen in the sky and multiple coming and going from the runways is incompetent.
After seeing Kenneth_2003's 8:26am post video which I built my post around, more inclined to agree. Because very specifically, since ATC changed the situation from a `routine' setup to a less common approach -- it was now incumbent on them to `up the ante' in a little of the detail about which plane and where to look, etc. The interesting thing about that video is it shows how much a disadvantage such a simple omission put both the crj and the blackhawk. The pilot of the chopper may simply have been looking exactly where they `should' --- because ATC hadn't told them they put the airliner somewhere else. Same for the crj. That change was not trivial -- so things should have become `less routine' by just a degree or two, on ATC's part regarding the instructions with CA alerts flashing.

That runway change is almost trivial, it's not uncommon, and happens several times a day at DCA, especially for the regionals…if the pilots are uncomfortable with the request, they refuse it.

They told the helo that the airplane was landing on 33, stop listening to idiots on YouTube

It can be hard to tell who actually knows what they are saying or not on those. True. But I don't recall hearing it said to look that way in the last few moments, so what the video said sounded plausible.

Sounded like NTSB saying both pilots where they were supposed to to be... ATC remaining interviews may shed light.

It is, because she was at the ****ing inauguration and up until this accident, served as an aide for Trump.. you don't serve for an admin, you serve for the office.

Being a social aide is a volunteer assignment. She was a 60 pilot and outside of her normal duties, she worked events at the WH. I wish someone would tell the media what the hell a social aide is.

It's just sad, imho. I don't think there's anything to her being in the 89th and also afforded/offered/accepted a WH aide detail. This isn't politics, just a tragedy.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.

The pain from this is excruciating. Middle and high school aged kids in the figure skating community, all over the US, were very quick to figure out who was missing through texts that went unanswered. Figure skating is a 6 day a week sport. These kids and their families spend a massive amount of time together.

She was qualified and signed off as a pilot in command by senior aviators. She was top 20% of all ROTC cadets nationwide. Degree from UNC Chapel Hill. Completed BOLC, IERW, and advanced airframe at Fort Rucker, AL. You quite literally have no idea what you are talking about.

Hope this helps.

500 hours doesn't seem like enough hours to be flying around dc at night with commercial airliners. I bet the victims families feel the same way.

If you want FAA regulations to start requiring 1500+ hours of PC time before an aviator is eligible to enter DC airspace then fine but she was qualified.
