There's no right to know the name. Theres no right to privacy either. This is unusual and is drawing attention which is distracting from what happened.

The Army's duty is to inform the family ASAP, before it's released. After that, their duty is to inform the public. That's just the way it is, a role of duty vs PR or emotions. They have now ultimately done this family a disservice by not doing so, even though this may have been an ask

I believe the wording from the privacy act is they CAN release, but not that they must. Most of the time they do, but I highly doubt this is the only tome a servicmember's name has been held back for a hole 49 hours. And again, I'm sure they will. This is nothing at this point

For starters, it wasn't right in front of them. You've had multiple pilots and helicopter pilots on tv news, online and on this thread discuss how these things can and do happen with relation to blind spots, what they're looking at, possible mistakes in what they were tracking, the city lights, etc.
You're looking at a 2d video and attempting to project 3d summations.
Now that doesn't mean the pilot wasn't a moron. But the plane was not 'right in front of them'

Ryan is fondly remembered as a guy who would fix things around the ROTC gym as well as a vital member of the Rifle Team. Was the plane notified about the UH60? ATC should have notified based on information at hand. Again reading is fundamental.
