I actually don't think we have any carrier strike groups there right now, although of course we have forces in Bahrain/Qatar. I think USAF/USN combat assets via centcom just finished a bunch of exercises out of Al Udeid and Saudi. The arab states have always been too timid to actually strike Iranian forces but it might be plausible even that Qatar/UAE/Saudi's agree to assist in a decapitation wave, imho.

Probably. There are supposedly around 100K terminals in Iran mostly via black market. I suspect the videos we do get still are via those. SpaceX has to be careful though as they don't want to be shut out globally over this in various places that censor political speech broadly (such as the EU).

I haven't seen any comments from them officially on this the past week, which is a little surprising. Elon was very 'delicate' about this with Ukraine/Russia using the network for military purposes. This is where the future 'Starshield' versions would come in very handy to provide commercial/regulatory insulation for SpaceX.

I sit here at home with my two young daughters watching Powr Puff Girls. I can't imagine the bravery of those who go out on the street to protest knowing they may not go home.

I saw an interesting YouTube video this morning about Iran. WATER is a major issue there. The country is quite literally on the verge of being completely without water.

It's another area where current leadership has absolutely made everything worse and it's another avenue in which they have enriched themselves.

It's mostly the areas around Tehran. They've been overpumping the groundwater to the point the city is actually sinking. They have been through several years of low rainfall which is only way a matters worse. The current president was trying to build a new capital on the southern coast but difficult to pull off. Now Tehran may face slow evacuation over the next year or so.
