He's supposedly in a Tehran bunker complex, with his son Mojtaba ostensibly running daily operations right now.
Quote:

Word out of Iran has been scarce over the last few days. The regime has engaged in hideous repression of the uprising Iranian people, and the internet, and thus the flow of information out of the country has all but ceased. That's disconcerting, but in a bit of interesting news, there are now reports that the Supreme Leader himself, the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, that savage barbarian theocrat out of another century, has gone underground.

Perhaps out of fear of American airstrikes?
Quote:

The 86-year-old supreme leader has moved to a fortified shelter in Tehran connected to a series of elaborate underground tunnels after senior military officials warned of the increasing likelihood of an imminent US attack, Iran International reported, according to the Jerusalem Post.
Khamenei has left his youngest son Masoud Khamenei, 53, in charge of running the day-to-day management of the Islamic Republic, the Jerusalem Post reported.
Masoud Khamenei's emergency duties include being the primary communication channel with the regime's executive branch, according to the report.
Iran has deemed the likelihood of US airstrikes to be high after President Trump announced Friday that warships were headed to the Middle East as a warning to the ayatollah, following a continuing war of words between the two leaders in recent days.

Iran might be right about those American airstrikes.

Sanctions are great and all, but it's time to start killing Mullahs.

Specific, targeted assassinations.

We f'd up in June not cutting off the head of the serpent.

Now, it needs to be the head, gut, and tail, and they need to be put in a blender.

This doesn't end for the Iranian people until that happens.

I agree. Note the USS Lincoln CSG-3 has arrived, and the Iranians even flew a little drone over it and threatened on social media to sink it with much bravado/as usual.

I saw the Centcom commander is in Tel Aviv in meetings with Israeli's.

France24 is one of those 'inconsistent' news outfits that occasionally shows accurate information.

Thinking this thru a bit, how much do we and Mossad know about the location of the underground bunkers and the ingress/egresss points?

If you take out all the entry/exit points would Khameini ever be heard from again?

All assumes that Khameini is indeed in said bunker/tunnel system. I have no idea if that is likely or not. Could be a total decoy I suppose.

Confirming if he's actually there and getting as much intel on the entry/exit points and eyes on same . Maybe that's why this imminent strike is delayed .

I'd wager Mossad has a pretty damn good idea since they have had 40 years to find out.

My thoughts as well.

I am totally convinced a strike is going to happen. It's just a matter of when and how but the goal is likely one strike finishes the job so let's make damned sure we get it right.

The strike(s) are only one part of the mission. Accurately predicting the counter and having assets to address those is another part.

Agree but Mullahs being gone is a prerequisite to the rest imo. when i said finish the job that's the job I was referring to.

When I say gone I mean no longer wasting oxygen. Not evacuated .

Chinese can send/pick up what they want, it won't matter. Their buddies are not going to survive this imho.

And yes, the video of the Lincoln from a drone is old, though the threats were made in the past 24 hours (I didn't want to link to their propaganda directly fwiw, but should have noted this, sorry).

Also, one of the mullah's daughters who worked for Emory hasโ€ฆbeen terminated. Good, she needs to go home and solve cancers there.

Yes, let alone an 'armada.' The LCS disaster/saga (or ancillary soap operas of idiocy) I think we can and have all laughed at a bit.

A modern CSG at least I suppose could be equivocated, argumentatively anyway, as an 'armada.'

NOT safe for work etc/disgusting/horrific footage (won't link directly to father searching for his son's body among those in body bags), cursing Khamenei:

"Our friends" the Saudi's pull away from peace/Trump moves with Iran. Not that any sane person has ever considered the wahabbists real 'allies.'

Al Jazeera: "Change is inevitable."
Quote:

"The social contract between state and society in Iran has withered over the decades, and with the disruptions to basic services over the past year amid electricity and water crises, the provision of security is now also under question," Shabani said. "To ensure its longevity, the Islamic Republic is thus faced with the broader challenge of having to explain to the public what it can provide, and why it must continue to exist".
According to Azizi, a transformation has already started with the political system moving from a clerical into a military leadership as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps an elite force established after the 1979 Islamic Revolution has grown into the country's most powerful economic and political actor.
"After the death or removal of Khamenei, we are not going to see the Islamic Republic as we know it," Azizi said.
"Whether that it's gonna give more impetus to the people to come to the streets to initiate regime change, or it's going to result in a Soviet-style scenario of regime transformation with the security establishment reemerging in a different form, that is an open question, but change is inevitable."

Probably true.

that we would be cowed by our enemies and afraid to actually fight

rather than pay others to fight while we hide!

Any Naval Commander that allows drones to overfly our aircraft carriers or other combat ships needs to be relieved of command immediately.

There should never be any footage of an Iranian drone overflying a U.S. Aircraft Carrier!

Drones like that should never have gotten within tens of miles to that carrier on a photo recce.

That's how this ends IMO. Iran will be governed by a hard line Military Junta after they kill or push out all of the clerics. There isn't anyone else in that country capable of taking control and leading right now. Will it be better for the Iranian people? Doubtful.

They will need to fix the economy and get the power working if they don't want to end up with more unrest from the people. To do that they have to play nice with the international community and get sanctions lifted.

I still think there's a chance the Shah (or whatever his title is) will return...I know there's a lot of folks there that would like that...

Maybe but the Shah has spent 50 years, the majority of his life, living outside of Iran. He has never been a leader or run a government of any kind. The people calling for his return are doing so out of symbolism. They remember the late Shah that was exiled and his son is not the same man. How does he enter the maelstrom and take command of millions of people who have no electricity, no food, the currency is worthless, etc.? Will the military step aside and let him take control? I doubt it.

If he does return and assume power he better hope he can fix Iran in record time or the people will turn on him too.

I would suspect the Shah would come back as a constitutional monarch.

They need a democratically elected government. Whether they're able to handle that or not is another matter.
