I live in Frisco and voted in the mayoral runoff. The candidate whose signs you see the most is Mark Hill. Googled him and the other candidate Rod-something and looked up what is different about their platforms.
Hill is an ISD school board member standing on a half ass tagline "unite Frisco" with zero concerns about the Indian and Muslim takeover.
Rod is a country boy construction business owner who is respectful but not on board with mosques popping up everywhere. I voted for Rod, never would ever believe a school board shmuck could ever run a city of this size and growth.
Then on my walk through old town last night I see a house with an Aggie flag, a Mark Hill sign, and a "Talarico for Texas" sign.
I made the right choice. And am embarrassed about those Ags.

paxton likely still wins after trump and national republicans inevitably step in to bail him out, but by a closer margin than any of the other texas racesTeslag said:
I also don't know what you people keep falling for poll after poll each election only to be disappointed. The same polls that had Cornyn within 10 of Paxton...

if this thread is any indication, we're well past character assassination at this point, we're swan diving straight into talarico derangement syndromeTeslag said:Old McDonald said:
paxton underperforming the other top-of-ballot republicans is the takeaway here. maybe if republicans keep calling talarico a gay vegan beta heretic even harder, enough people will forget no one is excited about paxton.
It's honestly the best play. It's Texas and that **** doesn't fly. We character assassinated Beto, Allred, and the others. Stop running freaks.

If Trump doesn't wrap-up the Iran war satisfactorily and gas prices don't come down, there will be a definite lack of enthusiasm among Republican voters which will give Talerico a better than sluggers chance.

It'll be a 15-20 point win. It won't be close.

It won't be 15-20 points.
Talarico has a base of about 40-43% Normally the Republican base would be 50%, but Paxton will lose some Republican voters (stay home, skip, vote 3rd party) along with some independents who usually vote Republican.
Given how bad Republicans are doing right now across the country, it will be a lot closer than you think. Safe seats are no longer considered safe, and possible pickups are pretty much being written off.
Heck, Ohio has shown a 20 point swing from 2024, in favor of the Democrats. Part of that is Vivek dragging down the ticket, but Trump is a drag as long as inflation keeps going up as fast as it is.

Some Dems will stay home too. Yes there are people who would vote for an imbecile as long as they have a D or R next to their name. But once all the oppo research comes out on Talarico, it will cause somewhere around 2-4% of Dems to stay home. I agree it will be close but the backlash against Paxton will be mitigated somewhat by the fact Talarico will lose moderate Dems.
It's fake. Trying to create a narrative. Democrats don't really even pretend anymore.Line Ate Member said:

New Texas A&M Bush School / Siena Research poll
Tells you all you need to know.
Shift at least 5-7 percentage points to the Republican candidates total and it might be close to the final results in November.
Almost 70% of the poll respondents were from Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, or Houston. That's why Texas is notoriously hard to to poll and always underestimates GOP strength.

And something that always stands out to me in "polls" like this - the use of the category "No Degree" or similar always favors the R candidate. Every freaking time. They are telling everyone exactly what they think of people who don't vote per their wishes, and at least for me, they can go touch grass.

What do you think is going to make any Dem voters stay home and not vote for Talarico?
I think this race will be interesting because a lot of the Cornyn votes were pretty strong anti-Paxton votes. And I think Talarico is going to be boring and bland enough that he's not going to turnoff those voters that much.
