In coastal Maine for a vacation. Was talking to a local and he was like "man I really like that Talarico guy. He has common sense. Any chance he can win?" I just laughed.

Coastal Maine is full of gray haired cat women, low T men, and lesbians. Most liberal place I've ever been.

And the number of signs for Planter makes me think Susan Collins doesn't have a chance. This is a weird place - beautiful, but weird.

lol. Another term that the left has changed. In what world does Talarico have common sense? Good lord.

Was there yesterday

Love Maine. People are weird but friendly. We went many summers ago on a lobster boat cruise in Kennebunkport and the captain said we had just missed 41 -- that he left in his new boat a little while ago. We cruised around, went by the compound, picked up some traps and then a Secret Service boat goes flying by followed by 41 ripping it in his new fishing boat. Pics are on my phone so I may post another Maine derail later.

/csb

Back to the OP, Maine would make Talarico president.

Paxton really doesn't need to do anything in his campaign but let the freak keep talking and then replaying his words.

This, especially all the self loathing anti-white stuff uncovered the last few weeks like

"My whiteness and my masculinity limit what I can imagine is possible"

"A lot of white churches don't really follow Jesus"

Just keep hammering him with nothing but his own Marxist, racist, self loathing BS

The biggest threat to Paxton isn't the dems and Talarico, it is the rino wing of the GOP-E that are going to play the "he lost a winnable seat because he was a terrible candidate" game. That is the game where somebody other than the rino's preferred GOP-E candidate wins the primary. In response, the national level funding from places like the Republican Senate Campaign Committee gets cut off, the primary candidate who lost goes full bitthurt and starts helping the other team, and all the rino GOP-E types stay home and don't vote because they are too butthurt that their candidate lost the primary. And when that lack of financial support and their unwillingness to turn out to vote causes the D to win, they all sit around afterward telling us it was because "he or she was a terrible candidate" instead of owning up to the fact that they (rinos and GOP-E types) are responsible for the loss.

We have seen it over and over when Rs lose winnable seats and I fully expect them to run that playbook against Paxton.

Bingo. The moderates that always tell the conservatives that we have to vote for the RINO(or the democrats will win) and to just hold our noses and do it are a bunch of hypocrites.

The RINOs would be fine with Talarico winning as long as it gave them the chance to say it was MAGAs fault that the RINOs stayed home and didn't vote.

Things are starting to trend a little better.

If Paxton's campaign folks are even half-way decent, once the full blown ad campaign gets underway, Talarico will fall even further behind. It won't be just rumor, or accusations, but actual videos of him saying stupid stuff and actual quotes of things he said. The difference between Paxton (who I don't like) and Talarico isn't just a baloney sandwich vs. a salami sandwich (both on moldy bread) but it is the difference in a baloney sandwich and a **** sandwich.

That may work in somewhere. Not Texas. Rove/Bush suck ass and their boy was boooooooood of the stage and got his ass beat. The dozen or so of what is left of those losers can go **** off.

The Lincoln project may feed them some nice lunches. But their actual influence is about 0.00001%

Nah. It was at a strawberry festival. The guy was selling flowers. My wife had a nice conversation with him about flowers. I wasn't getting into it. He figured out real quick we weren't Dems. And a miracle we even found a church this morning in NH that was conservative and preached the word - not Talarico's version.

Preacher said many told him he was crazy to try and start a church in New Hampshire, but he has two services every Sunday now. There's always hope.

Of course they are. They just wasted $150mm on Cornyn. It was blindingly obvious Cornyn was going to lose and they spent it anyway. So they have zero interest in supporting Paxton and Paxton can expect very little support.

If that is really true it will be one of the biggest tactical errors, I have seen in American politics in my life.

Texas losing a senate seat would officially mark the beginning of Texas turning purple. The GOP could hold the Senate and the House and the dems would still believe they won the superbowl. It would be the biggest politcal story of the year outside of the midterm results themselves. And if we lost to a simp weirdo like Talarico, all the worse.

Doesn't matter. They are controlled opposition for the democrats anyway. They would rather be in the minority. Makes it easier to raise money when they don't have to answer for the things they are not getting done. The real goal is to punish the voters of Texas for not picking the GOP-E candidate in the primary. If that means Talarico wins, so be it. But they can't abide by the voters getting the idea that they can ignore the GOP-E approved candidate and pick somebody they want.

I don't know.

One of the greatest outcomes of how Trump performed in 2024 in Texas was in winning the RGV counties. I think he got every county on the border except one. My hope is that the dems have gone so far left that they have pushed the Mexican-American community in Texas to vote GOP because open borders wasn't working to well for them, nor does the anti-business climate, nor the radical social positions.

Think positive dude. We just need to keep wiping the Texas GOP good ole boy system out.

Got my first spam message from what I suspect to be the Talarico campaign. Number was a 562 area code, the 562 area code serves primarily as a regional code for southeastern Los Angeles County and a sliver of northern Orange County in Southern California.

Anybody else received one yet and any clue on what the -TS signature is supposed to be? Seems a bit scammy since it doesnt even say "Send stop to end" but only "stop to end"

Saw a couple of these yard signs driving through the Lakewood area in Dallas. Maybe it's just me, but this is the most uninspired, just mailing it in political yard sign that I can recall. Feels like they're not even trying. Reminds me of the initial generic product labeling from the 70's

That editorial is not the voice of the Chronicle, it's a "guest editorial" from some radio guy.

NYT has a big article today (paywall) that says its own poll shows a 47-47 tie.

A Tied Senate Race Gives Democrats a Shot in Deep Red Texas, Poll Finds James Talarico, a Democratic state lawmaker, is tied with Ken Paxton, the Republican state attorney general, according to a New York Times/Siena poll.

Quote:

There were several signs of weakness for Mr. Paxton in the poll.

A majority of likely Texas voters see Mr. Talarico as having good character and the right moral values, but not Mr. Paxton. Mr. Paxton, a MAGA firebrand who spearheaded the legal efforts to reject the 2020 presidential election results and celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022 by declaring the date an annual holiday for his office, was also more likely to be viewed as "too extreme" than Mr. Talarico.

Mr. Paxton has failed to attract some voters who otherwise said they would like to see a Republican-controlled Senate. On the question of which party they preferred to be in power in the Senate, 50 percent of likely voters in Texas favored Republicans, while 44 percent favored Democrats.

Mr. Talarico is winning 61 percent of Hispanic voters less than two years after Mr. Trump carried that community in Texas in the 2024 election.

A massive gender gap is shaping the contest, with women backing Mr. Talarico by 18 percentage points and men backing Mr. Paxton by a roughly the same margin a chasm even bigger than in the 2024 presidential race.

And Mr. Paxton begins the general election with voters viewing him far more dimly than Mr. Talarico.
Only 38 percent of likely Texas voters said Mr. Paxton had "good character," compared to 56 percent who said the same of Mr. Talarico.

Still their publication.

The NYT bias deems their polls irrelevant. If they're showing it's tied, Paxton is up by at least 5pts.

Actually, this is not at all surprising. We're seeing a definite movement within the Democrat party away from anything patriotic or supportive of the red, white & blue.

This aligns closely with those on the left that are "ashamed" of America and want to fundamentally transform it from the Consitution down into something completely different.
Who we are is God's gift to us. What we become is our gift to God.
