This was from a Nextdoor post that came up in my email. Guy is upset that McKinney ISD has not offered virtual option so far for this coming year. The bolded emphasis is mine - can't believe this attitude.

Just think about it - what is the big deal if our kids do not get proper education for a year or two until Covid settles down. I am very unhappy about where MISD is going with this situation and hope that they'd do the right thing for the children and their families.

At this point - if this isn't thrown out that is - I'll be more pissed at Abbott for not fighting his a** of like DeSantis is than at Pie Man (whose been ridiculously consistent since last March - the guy loves masks more than life itself).

I'll bet there was no mention of any metric or data point they would use to rescind the mandate Jenkins is going to put in place tomorrow. Even if there was one, we're going to do this dance again in a few months when the next variant emerges.
I haven't checked our daily numbers, but I imagine we're close to peaking with delta, if we haven't already. Also, this does nothing for the vaccine efforts for now, but I'm sure he'll go full vaccine passports if he's allowed to ignore Abbott on this.

CDC reports that for the week of July 31 the rate of hospitalization with Covid for children 5 to 17 was 0.5 per 100,000,
The hospitalization rate for school aged kids looks just like it did during the last peak. Basically nonexistent.

Even if True and others are "masks just don't bother me that much" - guy what about Clay makes you think this will be enough for he and the mob? If this were to end up (god forbid) not being overturned and he does indeed have the ability to control when the mandate is in place and when it isn't - then what's to stop him from going after restaurant / retail capacity ? Its just not feasible for most families that require both parents to have full time jobs. The ISDs are really gonna struggle in general this year with a lot of 1st year teachers anyways. My wife's middle school lost nearly 20 teachers who were just fed up and reached a breaking point last year. My wife has 3 interviews this week alone with different companies to get out of education (fingers crossed she gets offers for her sanity's sake).tysker said:

FWISD just announced masks required last night. I'm in EMSISD (eagle mountain Saginaw) and hoping they don't follow...

The ISDs have made it hard for teachers to teach and it's just not worth it for so many employees. Teachers cant teach, kids cant learn, and parents are bound by the whims of ISD board members and the loudest protestors. Not a great scenario for anyone. Just sent emails to RISD Super, Board, and General Counsel urging them to make no changes in policy until this is settled by the courts, and that any policy put in place against the Governors orders before its settled in court will be met with a lawsuit.
