It took 8 minutes from the penalty call to the retake. How'd the ref not add on anymore extra time. That was absurd
Ok...i thought they had to go with the players on the field at the end of the extra time.Hand Of God said:
Yes, if they have a substitution remaining. Limit is 3.
If they had used them all up a field player would have to step in at GK.
The knockout stage has the potential to be a real schlitzshow. A game going to PKs with World Cup advancement on the line will assuredly see both keepers red carded. Then you could see 20+ PKs until someone misses or the poor field player standing in as keeper gets really lucky.gambochaman said:

VAR in the Womens World Cup has been really bad. When implemented correctly it has been a positive change.who?mikejones said:
At some point, people will realize what a terrible addition replay/var/live reviews is to sport.
Espn just put out a really good article about it.

That isn't going to happen. VAR haters will try and act like all VAR usages are this bad, when in fact VAR has come up huge in many instances and been a big net positive overall. Take the Champions League 2nd leg of Tottenham - City. VAR was used for two huge calls, got them right, and didn't take *that* long (one took very little time because the VAR team makes offside calls without involving the center ref).who?mikejones said:

Well I think partof the problem is FIFA's mandate to use only female officials. Most female officials do not get enough top tier games due to the limited amount of top tier leagues for women. This is exacerbated by limiting the number of officials per federation (one R and two AR max per federation).wangus12 said:
Agreed. It wasn't until this World Cup that it has become an issue. It takes forever, but I guess that's typical since women can't make up their damn minds
