Not a soccer fan at all but yesterday was like watching the Aztecs drop people into the volcano over and over again. I loved it and can't wait to see if we give Chile the rented mule treatment as well.Agvet12 said:
I'm not against scoring goals, but looking at it, games like this can sometimes do more harm than good. A lot of the goals came off awful passes that just got lucky. This in turn builds confidence but also builds bad habits.

Simple solution for all of the grief this seems to have caused some of you...don't watch.
If you don't like Rapinoe's pink hair or political stances...don't watch.
If you think U15 boys beating these women discredits their talent...don't watch.
If you think they score too many goals or celebrate too much afterward...don't watch.
So many people here with strong opinions about individual players and a team they pretend to care so little about.
You just hit the nail on the head. What the US did with their celebrations yesterday turned off the causal fan. Make no mistake that doesn't help grow the game.

i saw they were up 3-0 and was like nah, there are just as many people that at least want it interesting.AG@RICE said:Furlock Bones said:Hand Of God said:

I rarely watch women's soccer, but I'm going to try to catch the rest of the USWNT games...they beat a team 13-0! Casual fans are enticed by greatness, not sportsmanship.
This and what agvet12 said. it was painfully obvious how terrible Thailand was and the US took advantage. zero issue with the scoring, nor the celebrations. but against better teams, most of that **** wont fly. Sloppy passes, bad touches that would not have lead to shots on goal, let alone goals scored against a team that knew what the hell they were doing. Chile aint doing dick against the US, but Sweden may punch the team in the mouth if they allow the scoreline to go to their heads.bbry81 said:
What I personally think is getting lost in all this scoreline talk is how we actually played. Many of these goals don't happen versus an average team and we will eventually play a great team. I think rapinoe had a poor performance. Many of her services were over hit and not quality and she was the worst when it came to celebrations. I'm not sure why we showed so many different types of corner kicks and free kicks against a team we don't need them on because now teams have film on them and they won't be as productive. Call me negative Nancy but I see a lot of false positive out of this game
Sweden looked like ass against Chile.Quote:

I honestly think she just lost her mind for a split secondHand Of God said:
That was less of a clearance and more of a beautifully finished own goal.

Exactly. Pugh scored at 84'. This was her first World Cup. The Twitter critics would expect her not to celebrate because of feelings. What about her feelings? Her moment to shine? She's probably been dreaming about that since she was a little girl. The people commenting are a bunch of losers who have never played sports at a high level. There is nothing wrong with those celebrations. The only goal I'd say was probably unnecessary was Lloyd's in extra time.
