"If a ball is in the air and both the goalkeeper and a field player of the opposing team are challenging for the ball, advantage usually goes to the goalkeeper because he or she is not able to protect themselves."

No citation is given. Are you saying this is incorrect? Honest question.

Brazil have gotten away with some sketchy fouls in last few minutes. A few were completely missed by ref. The others didn't get a card, but should have.

On this one, I guess Brazilian pretended to stretch hamstring long enough and ref didn't give her a yellow.

I would say that yes, GKs are generally given a fair amount of leeway. Some would say that GKs are allowed to commit murder without consequences. But there is absolutely nothing in the Laws that gives a GK a right to a ball over another player.

France have had several excellent crosses that just missed connecting. Brazil's keeper has come off the line perfectly several times as well.

I expect Brazil to screw around and delay until penalty kicks.

1. It's wiki.
2. It's not one of the Laws of the Game.
3. Referees have tended to give a lot of leeway and/or protection to goalkeepers.
4. I myself have taken advantage of this as a goalkeeper, and have on occasion intentionally gone through opponents at the same time as I was going for the ball.

Don't think Brazil have the legs to get an equalizer.

Observation from this match: France hardly look a legitimate contender for the title. USA is going to pound them if this is their quality in the Quarters.

Just play keep away, no need to take on two defenders near mid-field.
