There's too many posters that just want some kind of binary thing, that Buzz is either good, or he sucks. And in fact, there are a few randos on here on both ends of the spectrum. You've got BuzzFan24 acting like Buzz is basically John Wooden but we've giving him the resources of Ranger Junior College and then a few crazies on the other end saying he's terrible, can't coach, can't recruit, etc and that we should hire a coach with a proven ability to win a major conference or land top 20 recruiting classes.
The reality is, of course, much more complicated than that.
The idea that we'd fire a coach coming off of back to back tournament win seasons is so detached from reality that it's not even worth discussing. The idea that we'd pay $15M to do it is so crazy those people should go see someone.
So you have people like me saying that Buzz's results have been good enough that his job isn't in jeopardy, it's not because we think Buzz is absolutely incredible or that we could never be better. That's what it sometimes gets mistaken for, "oh we should just be happy with making the tournament because we've never been better, you're accepting mediocrity."
No, it's because some of us actually like college basketball, and enjoy a good season. And this was an objectively good season for us. It was one of our best 5 or so seasons of all time! If you didn't enjoy any of this season then you either like being miserable or you just don't actually like Aggie basketball.
But it doesn't mean those people don't want us to be even better. You can have an understanding of what our history is and what our limitations are but also want to see improvements. For example, I think the way Buzz treats the fan base is a limitation on how successful we can be, and that's now ten times as true as it was last week when I posted it. If a program like ours is going to rise above our historical station, it's going to take a massive across-the-board effort to do it. And treating the fans like they aren't a part of the program is a major hurdle to that happening.
