As usual, I think there's a middle road here. I think we'd pay a buyout if we had to in basketball because basketball actually has the potential to make money and a major fall off in attendance and season tickets would be a measurable hit to our finances. Now, we probably wouldn't pay an absolutely huge one which is what Buzz's would be this year and next year. Nor should we, the results just aren't anywhere in the ballpark of bad enough.

But are we going to pay one in a sport that already loses more than $5M a year like women's basketball? Probably not.

my initial reaction is: Who cares?

He gone, I'll miss his defense and schemes but, won't miss how bad his teams were at free throws. Definitely rebuild next year would not be surprised if Payne and Washington portal out.

Buzz had a very clear ceiling. We need to take a book out of what UF did and hire a young guy having success at a mid major

We only had 2 players who played meaningful minutes set to come back. It was going to be a complete rebuild regardless.

It's not like we were bringing back a bunch of all-conference guys anyway. Why do you think Buzz is so eager to leave?

Maybe we'll get a guy who will portal in better pieces from his old team.

I mean it wasn't so much antagonistic and just not based in any sort of reality, but doesn't matter now.

We'll see if Trev can live up to your standards of a proven high major conference winner than can recruit top 20 classes

I'm torn because Buzz did win here but I also did not enjoy "Buzz ball". Next up! Hopefully our next coach focuses on getting the ball IN the basket!
