Theyre already there. They're adamant he didn't do anything to get himself fired from our rival

If Buzz wasn't circulating his name for other jobs, the smart and right thing for him to do would've been to publicly put the rumors to rest. But, of course he didn't do that.

I hope he goes somewhere else or resigns (which he won't do). I don't know how he can effectively recruit to A&M when he's said his players have to deal with racism from some of our fans, he has a track record of leaving schools before his contract is up, and everyone knows he's been trying to leave A&M. It's pretty clear Buzz doesn't have confidence he can keep building our program up, or probably even maintain what he's done. He wants to leave before he gets fired. But who wants to hire a coach that is a pain in the ass, has all those idiosyncrasies, and if he's successful, won't stay.

He's a good coach, but he's replaceable, and he's worn out his welcome for some of us.

I will say the tone on this one is a little different than his typical coaching change posts where it's already done. But he thinks it's gonna happen today. I doubt he'd post at all without feeling fairly confident in it.

What's weird is I trust our people in charge now (Alberts, Welsh, etc) that if they think he's hireable, then I'm okay with it.

But I still think it's wild for people on the internet to just think it's no big deal that he got fired midseason at Texas of all places. Especially from some of the same posters who envy their athletic department and willingness to "win at all costs."

I'd also be worried about us "cleansing" him and him just ending up back at texas eventually in another Schloss situation. I'd rather pass on Beard.

The fact they dumped him with a national title level roster tells me a lot that they knew stuff

Oh if we were going to hire him the contract would have to include basically a poison-pill buyout for Texas. Something absolutely outrageous.

Yes, I also think this is extremely likely. Either it's not the first time he's had a problem, or the situation was worse than what's been reported. Either way, not good.

There was actually a similar conversation on this board a long time ago about Izzo when he was semi under fire with the scandal up there at Michigan State and people said we should hire him if they fire him. My take then was IF it's bad enough they have to fire him THEN it's probably so bad we can't hire him.

Don't ever compare a winning coach to Buzz.

Buzz should either Resign or do a Negotiated-Buyout. He has no business on this campus next season.

ah yeah. I just logged on. And can't see liucci's latest post on premium. It's just hard to imagine where he'd go if Maryland doesn't hire him when even Xavier rejected him. Maybe it'd be easier for Buzz to recruit to Maryland and he could do well there.

I would not be harsh on Buzz personally unless he stays. I don't think it's ego. I believe he just knows he'd be fired next year, and the fact he's trying to let us KEEP our Buyout-money should be applauded.

^ agree. Trev is not firing coaches and paying buy outs. Otherwise would already be a change
in soccer and women's basketball. He would fire for cause other than losing if no buy out to be paid.
Baseball may be different at the end of this year.

He isn't on the hot seat at all except in a handful of fan's delusions. That said A&M probably wouldnt hesitate to make a change after a couple losing seasons (one probably not enough), especially since his contract would be dwindling anyway. IMO, if Buzz stays and performs like Buzz, we'll probably be good enough to get him an extension.
