I have no idea of who A&M would hire if Buzz left. Absolutely no idea.
Chris Jans is #1 realistic candidate. If he says no, I have no idea where you go after that. Obviously you call people like McCasland, but he is going to say No. The top up and comers have taken new jobs already.LouisvilleAg said:

What's your thinking on Hoiberg?

It's not a "candy assistant loser mentality", it's Our Reality.
A&M has Not won National Championships in our Lifetime. I'm not ok with this.
Buzz has the opportunity for his 4th straight NCAA tournament appearance next year. In the History of Aggie Basketball, only 1 other guy has done this. I'm just saying I'm not ready to jump off the Buzz bandwagon.
Look at Tech. They went out and invested in hoops. All their ncaa greatness came this century but sure we are stuck in the suck forever and should thank our lucky stars Buzz is here to get us punked the first weekend!
Won 31% of his Big Ten games. Yeah Nebraska sucks at basketball, but 31% if terrible.bobinator said:
Why? The Nebraska job is terrible, but he was really good at Iowa State. Did he just forget how to coach?
He's not on my top list either, just thinking of potential down-the-line candidates and I think he's a pretty good coach.

The interesting thing to me is that texags staff has not come out and said anything at all about this Maryland rumor.
Does that mean it's completely made up?
Or does it mean it has legs and they are waiting to see if we can hold onto buzz before they say anything?
they have switched to spring football.NyAggie said:

I'm skeptical of Bucky Ball working at the power conference level.LouisvilleAg said:
Three low major candidates would be Bucky McMillian, Alan Huss, and Chris Gerlufsen. I don't see any mid-majors that are still available.

I mean there is truth to him looking around, that's been Known for weeks. The Maryland stuff just seems to line up either way it. But nothing will happen till April first, even buzz buyout drops

Willard's buyout also drops on 4/1 but I don't see how this situation is tenable for Maryland and Villanova.
It probably is better. But we are talking 10% difference in wins. So even if you account for the conference being better, I don't think he has improved the program from the previous guys except for one year they had the nice run and got to the tourney and then got crushed by A&Mbobinator said:
That could also just be a product of the Big Ten being better though right?
Maryland may not like it, but I can see the Nova AD telling Willard and his agent to sit tight for 4 days to save a couple million bucks. Of course our current AD fired a coach mid-season instead of waiting 3 weeks to save $7.5 million, so who knows.bobinator said:

he was just extend last year to 2028. I don't see Trev moving that out longer.Bunk Moreland said:
-He isn't going to get an extension right now
-We aren't going to fire him because he's done a nice job
-The roster and culture is going to completely have to turn over and be re-built this year
-Buzz's decision on if he wants a longer term commitment right now somewhere else or if he wants to stay here and rebuild a a new team. If he stays he knows he'll need to produce quickly to get the next extension
In this time where schools are cutting costs as much as they can, they sure as heck might. What does 3 days matter? He can start reaching out to recruits in the portal and selling himself and then in 3 days it just changes from come to Nova instead of Maryland.Aston 91 said:Maryland may not like it, but I can see the Nova AD telling Willard and his agent to sit tight for 4 days to save a couple million bucks. if we give him a raise, I will lose all hope.BQ_90 said:he was just extend last year to 2028. I don't see Trev moving that out longer.Bunk Moreland said:

Maybe he gets a raise outta of it. But i don't see that either
I'm not sold on McDermott, though I like the style they play for this era.Quote:
Should Buzz leave/fired. Greg McDermott should be the target.
I think Hoiberg would definitely leave for the right job. I think he would leave for A&M too.Farmer @ Johnsongrass, TX said:
Only way Hoiberg leaves Nebraska is if they fire him or he dies there(kinda joking). Fred's grandfather was HC of UNL Men's BB program. His father taught at UNL. Fred got a new aortic valve about 10 years ago.
Nebraska has never won a Tournament game. If Fred can win one, they'll dedicate a statue to him and have a permanent legacy at UNL.
I'm a Buzz supporter and will always be. I followed his HC career from day 1 and hoped he would come back to College Station. He's got "it". (Flame away)
