I've wondered if they would go that route with Tim, but I think it's more likely he disappears into Thailand at the end of the vacation.

They're certainly paving the way for that possibility.

Oh **** just watched and go ahead and put Rockwell vs Goggins in the all-time pantheon of 1 on 1 scenes that come out of nowhere with Walken vs Hopper and others

Tim's panic/dread is so deep, and has lasted so many episodes now, that I not only think he lives, but that he's somehow ultimately spared from prosecution/financial ruin. The fact that he was about to end it all himself, but was interrupted at the last second (and then turned to prayer), only solidified this for me.
Or all of that happens. Tim finds faith, gets spared prosecution, has a renewed lease on life, then gets shot to death by a monkey.

If Goggins has a great finishing story to this season, he should be up for an emmy imo.

This would be appropriately Mike White as well.

I guess I just didn't find that scene as amazing as some of you guys.

totally random and off the wall, but didn't do anything to move the story forward.

Just felt shoehorned in to me.

It may not have moved the plot forward, but my guess is it's going to end up being the thematic thesis of the show in some way.

Not every scene has to move a plot forward IMO. I think it was a showcase for incredible acting by both actors, incredible writing, and the highlight how depraved people can be when they give in to their inner desires. The next scene with those two did move the plot in terms of Rockwall's character saying he will do whatever since he owes Rick.

So is Rick former military or something shady involving money and guns?

I don't agree that the writing was anything incredible.

the acting was fine, and Goggins reactions were the funniest part, but let's not pretend Rockwell talking about getting pegged was Shakespeare.

and I agree that not every scene needs to move the plot forward, but the pacing of this season is just a drag to me. I'm totally fine being the outlier.

Did you binge the first 2 seasons or watch the episodes as they were released?

I believe I watched them both as they came out.

I really enjoyed the first two seasons and am still curious about where this one is going. I just haven't cared for Season 3 as much.

Gotcha. I'm just curious for those who really feel like it's slow....is it just a change in how they're consuming it.

It was a little slow early but the last episode had a ton going on and set a lot in motion imo.

Surprised not to see more discussion about Michelle Monaghan hooking up with their butler after trying to get Carrie Coon to do it. That one's going to explode in a LOT of ways.
I'm surprised no one has commented on Coon's scratching her arse.

Have to think there is more to the story of the three Russian (?) women at the club/bar as well? Do they make an appearance at the resort as well looking for the guys and apart of the chaos that ensues?

I have to laugh at this, bc my favorite Mike White scene of all time is him comically explaining Shakespeare.

I thought it was interesting on the timing of that. Tim asked God what he should do after God just preemptively told him considering the empty gun and his wife walking in at that exact moment. God just showed him suicide was not the way so now it's up to Tim to figure his **** out.

One could easily interpret it as that anyway.

I told my wife on this week's episode the only storyline that wasn't stressing me out was the brothers with the two chicks, and then they went and had them kiss.

We will see but I don't really think the kiss will be that big of a deal. I was pretty shocked in season 2 when Tonya walked in on the dudes banging, but they didn't make that too big of a deal either, beyond those guys being scam artists.

Hate to tell you, but I feel confident that we haven't seen the last of that... there's been a lot of foreshadowing at an odd sexual dynamic between the brothers (even towards the sister) and sweet Lil Lochy def has some weird hangups going on.

It's going to get uncomfortable...

As this thread continues to blow up, I wanted to go back and check the prior seasons' threads to see how popular they were in comparison.

Season one was somehow only nine pages...

https://texags.com/forums/13/topics/3209352

... while season two was eighteen pages...

https://texags.com/forums/13/topics/3334447

... yet we're already at fifteen pages for season three, with the potential to pass season two's total before this Sunday, with three episodes still to go.

Say what you will about this season not being as good as the past two (I disagree), but it's causing way more discussion, and viewership is currently a whopping 78% higher than last season during the same amount of episodes.

I had gone back and done that math earlier today too.

For all the bad takes (there were surprisingly fewer than I expected here), I will NEVER complain when TV series hit the zeitgeist for discussion.

I agree it's about to get very uncomfortable, we see in the preview what appears to be Saxon getting a BJ. We can only guess as to who is the giver, but I'm gunna assuming it's not one of the ladies.

Since Season 1 had 6 episodes, Season 2 had 7, and Season 3 has 8,

Season 1: 1.5 pages per episode
Season 2: 2.57 pages per episode
Season 3: 3 pages per episode (at the moment)

Before the 6th episode of S2 aired on we were on page 6.
Before the 6th episode of S1 aired, we were on page 5.

S3 before the 6th episode airs, we're on page 15 with more to go.

I'm not much for wagering. But I'm gonna bet my good old buddy Mike white isn't going to show a brother suck off his older brother on screen.

If he does that'll probably be the end of white lotus for me (and a lot of people)

I think this season had some advantages. The long run up with a drip on cast announcements. A number of people in this thread who took the hiatus to watch the first few season to catch up and join in. Lots of debate about how different this year is. And then this last episode, which is over a quarter of the thread already. Love it or hate it…Nothing like it has ever aired on TV. I could literally write pages as to why.
One point I will make for those saying the SR scene was just for shock value. I saw a great interview with Leslie Bibb, she made the point that if the women had been as honest as he was, their passive aggressive feud would long since be over. They would have allowed themselves selves to be vulnerable and reconciled. I have said the theme of this season is identity in all its forms…the only one truly honest person about who they are and thereby the gold standard in that regard was SR, which makes that soliloquy even more amazing in the show's context. He was literally living out the ideal in a speech about wanting to get railed by men while pretending he's an Asian girl. With a totally straight face. And it's why WG just accepted it, because that was the point. We all know we're all crazy but no one owns up to their own. There's almost more respect for this who actually do.

I don't put too much stock in that meaning it is generating more discussion. Or that that means it is good/better/whatever.

It has more viewers now so that alone will generate more talk but not necessarily mean that much.

Similar thing happened with the GOT threads. I'd wager the final season had as much or more discussion than most prior seasons and yet that did not result from it being "better". Quite the contrary.

I could see Tim staying in Thailand at the monastery verse Piper. One, the show had made a point to remind us that those who are hiding from justice come to Thailand. Second, after he almost off's himself he turns to God.

On the flip side of that, I think it may be his legal troubles just go away. A theme of White Lotus is the ultra privileged and wealthy don't face consequences. This whole episode and half of him spiraling since his phone call with the lawyer, he has been without his phone. What if it turns out, the lawyer figured out an angle and was able to make a deal or something and he gets of with a slap on the wrist.
