Did Gaitok plan his date with Mook on the same night he is supposed to go to the fights with Valentin? That's all supposed to happen next episode (Friday) right? I'm a little lost on the timing and where we are right now

Maybe it will be one those Threes Company type "oh no! I've got two dates at the same time" type of thing.

I'm with you on the guy being Rick's father; based on the original picture he looked at in an earlier episode. The man in the picture kinda looked like Rick.

Back to the show:

What do we think is in store for the next episode?

My levels of interest:

1) What is Rick going to do in Bangkok? Kill his father? Was Sam Rockwell's monologue just an acting/character development flex or is this guys back story going to affect the plot?

2) I think Tim/Jason Issac is now past the kill himself phase and into some take action phase, we see him pointing the gun at someone in the preview. This is rip for some drama/action.

3) Gaitok is obviously careening for a downfall. How bad does it get for him in this next episode?

4) Hotel manager Fabian, I initially thought we wasn't going to be as important as the hotel manager has been in seasons pasts and was more just a comic relief type character, but this past episode has me rethinking that. What happens with him?

I wonder if we get a Darth Vader situation in that Rick shows up to kill the guy who murdered his father, only to find out the "murderer" IS his father. And that Rick's mom, like Obi-Wan, lied all those years ago so as to not expose Rick to the truth (that his father actually abandoned them).

Regardless, we see in the preview for Sunday's episode that Rockwell's character tags along with Rick on at least part of the way to see the man who murdered Rick's father. They're on a little boat together. So, yeah, one would think Rockwell's character will, indeed, affect the plot in some way beyond last week's monologue.
Saw that floated on Reddit a few days back, and I am leaning toward that being the case.

We have no idea where this is going. With two episodes addressing lady boys, imagine Mook turns out to be a lady boy.

I can't imagine a star and sex symbol as big as her - in her first major acting role - opting to play into her country's biggest stereotype... but I would definitely lol.

But yeah no chance.

Mook and Gaitok are childhood friends.

I'm of the opinion based on ricks account of his mother's explanation of his father's death, this guy he's looking for is 100% his dad.

In what world could Mook possibly be a ladyboy with that frame?

I would be shocked if Lisa would have taken a role that harms her image. Her character to this point seems to be as an almost angelic muse for Gaitok to wreck his life. Maybe she turns out to have a darker side but I would be surprised if it's anything too big.

It occurs to me that Fabian said that thing about protecting their guests with "colorful pasts", yet Greg isn't even a guest at the hotel technically.

Not sure if that means anything, just interesting.

I said the same thing at the time but qualified it by saying he's an occasional 'dinner guest'.

A friend of mine has been saying for weeks that the guy Rick is in Bangkok to kill is really his dad. That was just the "story" his mom used to hide the fact that they were abandoned.

Each week I think more and more that she is correct.

Really liked that episode. Glad he decided to use the episode to break down and come to terms with all the **** that happened in the prior episode vs rushing it to the fight night. Next episode is now set up to be an all timer

When that protein shake blender kills whoever it is, and it will, you should have seen it all.

MW doesn't shoot unintentionally.

It's popped up about 6 times, it's been WAY too present, it was sitting incredibly present in the shot when Gaitok came and grabbed the gun.

Someone is dying by that protein shake blender.

I'd have to go back and look but when Greg/Gary was talking to Belinda closed caption said " Greg". Did it call
him "Gary" previously? So he's not telling Belinda she's mistaken him for someone else anymore.

What's that saying "if there's a gun on the wall in the first act, it has be used in the third act?" Or something like that. Good call.

I could never, in a million years, predict how that protein shake blender will kill someone.

But, if you go watch the shot where Gaitok magically finds the gun on the first try out of many available drawers, that damn protein shake blender was in the shot right behind him. Directly placed and it was a weird shot.

And you can see it now, the protein shakes have been talked about too much, Schwarzenegger is having a CLEAR meltdown. This is where all this goes (somehow).

I really don't even fully know what I'm watching anymore. It's just so crazy this year comparatively. Previous years have largely been relatable issues. This year, it's murder of your dad or your dad's killer(possibly), alcoholism, drug addiction. suicide, impending jail and complete self destruction, whatver SW's speech was (besides awesome), whatever the blank is gonna happen with a Belinda and Greg, and of course incest…
It's almost like MW said "screw it, they gave me a fourth season already, I'm going balls to the wall, no topic off limits, and for better or worse it's gonna be talked about like few modern shows.

And by the way, the set up seems to now be for Gaitok to be the one using the gun. There's no way asking him if he had the guts to use it is an offhand comment. They have also made him out to be the nice innocent one, so it makes sense from that angle too.

I didn't! (But I probably like Bill bc we think about the same.)

(Timestamps, btw. I could never have gotten through 75 mins of Bill rambling 30 mins after the episode aired live, which I was 15 mins behind on).

It's just plain as day. And I'm not that good at seeing those things.

I think everyone has high opinions of the first couple seasons but forgets the slog they were to get through at first. Seemingly not much of a plot at all until you get to the 3rd or 4th episode. Until then it's just a bunch of characters with very few redeeming qualities being miserable to each other.

So far I'd say season 3 is right on the mark.

Maybe these are the least relatable then.

I've seen old vs young family, wait staff dealing with ****, poor girl marrying rich guy, aloof rich lady was at least cringe funny.

Season 2 same crazy rich lady. We all know faking it married couple and couple that doesn't sleep with each other.

Season 3 I don't know families that joke about happy ending at the dinner table, the old guy/ young bimbo works other than all the dude has done is smoke so far. No development on already used spa lady other than know her sons there at the death. The 3 ladies are enjoyable and in normal show path at least.

Honestly the most obnoxious thing is the thread just uses actor/actress names, not character, which I think proves even more how unmemorable they are.
catching up on show. bookmarking here so i can read discussion after episode 3

Good episode. To me Gaitok's entire manner changed this episode with more a warrior's swagger. I was impressed with how he pulled off the "ah shucks" security guard being a special forces guy. Pretty dang good actor.

The blender thing is interesting but I don't see how it will factor in. Between Fight Night and Greg/gary's party going to be a wild conclusion.

I seem to remember the captioning referring to him as "Greg/Gary" in previous episodes.
