I'm going to vote even more juicy…… Someone should package and sell the behind the scenes drama (and footage of the wild nights).

1200 posts, for a single 8 episode season of what is essentially a character study show with mostly second tier actors.
It really is amazing how unique this show is.

As soon as the credits rolled on Season 3, the internet immediately began speculating as to where the show could go for Season 4.
HBO programming executive Francesca Orsi previously told Deadline that "Chances are somewhere in Europe," calling a return to the continent "likely."
Somewhere like Sweden or Iceland?
Next, EP David Bernad went on The Bill Simmons Podcast and revealed that White "does not like the cold. I feel confident we'll never do a season in the cold. He's a California guy, he's not built for the cold. Never say never, but I would be surprised."
OK, so no Sweden or Iceland. And probably not Finland or Norway, either.
Parade Magazine evidently spoke to someone who suggested that Season 4 would be shot in Egypt or Mexico. I suppose both would be strong possibilities, but White has also said that he'd like to get away from "crashing waves," and most people vacation in Mexico to be closer to the ocean. Plus, I'm not sure that Mexico is "exotic" enough for this series.
So yes, Egypt is a possibility, and I would think that an African safari would be on the table at some point - or perhaps a trip to the rainforests of South Africa.
But I suspect we'll be going to a landlocked European country next.
As it so happens, I've heard about two possibilities…
I've heard that the White Lotus team was gearing up to scout locations in Austria and Switzerland.
Now, both of those countries make a lot of sense, but one makes more sense than the other.
See, ahead of Season 3, HBO formalized its partnership with The Four Seasons hotel chain.
I don't think that White is necessarily limited to countries that have a Four Seasons hotel, but I suspect that choosing from said list is strongly encouraged, given the cost of housing the massive cast and crew of this series for six-plus months.
The Four Seasons has hotels in the following European cities: London (England); Paris (France); Athens (Greece); Budapest (Hungary); Lisbon (Portugal); Madrid (Spain); and finally, Geneva, which is in (drumroll please) Switzerland!
What else is in Switzerland?
Well, for starters, there are plenty of Swiss banks - banks that are renowned for their secrecy and the protection they offer to depositors' identities.
There's some built-in drama right there. Perhaps someone involved in illicit activities could be traveling to Switzerland to retrieve a large sum of money. Maybe Belinda goes there to open an account herself, not wanting too many questions from the IRS about where that $5 million came from.
Maybe Timothy Ratliff's unseen business partner, Kenny - voiced by Ke Huy Quan, who would be a great actor to build Season 4 around - has money socked away in a Swiss bank account. Maybe it's Greg/Gary, played by Jon Gries, the only actor to appear in all three seasons of the show.
The possibilities are literally endless…
Austria and Switzerland aren't necessarily "hot" temperature-wise, but they aren't necessarily known for being cold, either, and there aren't any crashing waves, as far as I know.
What may be more important than a country's temperature and topography is its tax credits, for if White chose a country that didn't offer any tax rebate, the show would, obviously, be much more expensive.
Warner Bros. Discovery's David Zaslav isn't a fan of expensive, no matter how many Emmys a show wins.
Per Google, Switzerland doesn't have a traditional film tax credit system, though it has a program that refunds 20 percent to 40 percent of eligible production expenses. Those are primarily reserved for Swiss-international co-productions, but I'm willing to bet that Switzerland would make an exception for The White Lotus, given the amount of money HBO would spend in the country and the subsequent attention that the show would provide. There's also no service tax levied on foreign companies purchasing filmmaking services in Switzerland.
Meanwhile, Austria's current incentive program is designed to attract international productions with a competitive 30-35 percent tax rebate. And to be fair, Egypt offers a 30 percent tax credit as well.
Movies that have been filmed in Austria include Quantum of Solace, Knight and Day, and The Sound of Music, while Switzerland has welcomed productions such as GoldenEye, The Bourne Identity, and Phantom Thread.
So, if I had to place a bet right now, it would be on one of those two countries - not Japan, as some have speculated.

Really wish this is a show that would stop at 3 seasons. Not everything needs 7 seasons and a movie.

Just came here to say how much I loved Parker Posey's character.
We all know that woman in real life and it's easy to be a caricature of that person but she played it oh so well.
The scene at dinner where Piper realizes she's a spoiled kid and wouldn't last a week in that commune was greatness. The relief in her face. Nodding and smiling but trying to soothe her.
The thumbs up when she hugged her. lol.
That had me rolling because we all know that's such a real life situation in today's society.
Mike White is up there with Trey stone and Matt Parker on societal dark satire.

That scene kinda confused me. Because when Piper was talking to Lochlan, my impression was she wanted to do the commune thing but she wanted to do it without anyone else in the family being there.

Gotcha. I guess my problem is I'm trying to find "deeper meaning" behind all of the character conversations and interactions. And sometimes it's truly just superficial and shallow. (I guess both of those words are the same thing, so that's redundant)
Like when her mom said she had no memory of meeting that woman at the baby shower years ago. I figured there was something we'd find out later about it, but in reality.....she just honestly had no idea who that woman was.
Yeah, I don't understand why people expected more from it.Zombie Jon Snow said:AJ02 said:

She knew exactly who she was - she just didn't want to engage and gave her the brush off. Nothing more there it just demonstrated her self centered personality.
Saw an interview with Jason Isaacs (Tim) where he said basically that and that this was almost a low rent vacation for them (because Piper wanted to go there) and mingling with riff raff was not in Victoria's mindset.
