Yeah who is Lisa

Despite what this TikTokker says, I don't think it's crazy at all to not know who "Lisa" is. K Pop may be huge globally but it doesn't really register on the public consciousness in the U.S.

Also, what's with all these influencers holding a lavalier mic in their hands now? It looks stupid.

yeah I had zero clue who she was. Still don't have any idea who she is other than a chick in this show.

I haven't seen episode 4 yet

but what does Jason Isaacs have to gain by stopping his family from knowing about the scam while on the island?

I mean as soon as they turn on their phones again in 4 days they will have 120 text messages

why would he care about that.

We are now caught up. I can't decide if I like this season or not. It's labeled as Comedy / Dark Comedy, but to me I describe it more as Dark Stressful Dread Drama. Please remind me not to help set up a money laundering outfit with some shady character that comes back to haunt me. It feels like they sort of used the 1MDB scandal as inspiration for that story arc.

The Mook girl is very pretty whoever she is. She kind of looks like Jessica Alba.

If this ends up being a monkey with a gun then it will end up being a Dark Comedy because that would be awesome.

I will say the white women dynamic is perfect. Bunch of judgmental, back stabbing *****es that call themselves friends but really aren't.

He's a powerful rich dude who only know what it's like to be on top. He's watching his whole life and legacy melt down around him and wants to keep believing he can fix it. I think we saw in this episode that he's starting to grasp the futility, so maybe he tells them soon, but up until this point I totally get him trying to hide it from his family.

Why ruin the vacation for everyone?

Y'all have never gotten bad news on a vacation that you kept to yourself until after?

I think logistically a ski lodge would be really hard. You would be limited in your shooting window to a few months, eating up room space during their only valuable sewson would be tough, there would need to be actual snow so a dry year and you are screwed, filming in the cold and snow is harder, limited daylight in the winter etc,
But yeah, it would be awesome.
Timberline Lodge, Mt. Hood. Keeps snow (at least it did when I was there in the 90's) into the summer. Not sure it could support the show visually but it is/was nice. There is at least one film made there succesfully. Alot of the interior shots were in Europe but the Lodge was used as well. Redrum, Redrum...

Kudos to Timothy for taking like six Xanax, drinking neat whiskey in 90 degree weather all day/eating nothing, and not being in a coma by mid afternoon, much less taking business calls that evening.
How about Timothy's prosthetic!

I wonder what the discussion was between his agent and producers, "yeah, he'll show the goods but it has to look like the last foot of a baseball bat"

Culture no longer exists. It's been one slow death march post-Nuremberg, with Covid dealing its final blow.

Though I'm not pessimistic long-term. Probably just have to wait another two decades or more; and perhaps one should first look outside of the US when it does come to fruition.

Finally somebody said it. I can't wait until 2045 when we return to an optimistic Nurembergesque era of unflatness outside of the continental 50

Non-pessimism isn't necessarily "optimism". And I'd suggest you become (much) more historically-literate before you throw retorts my way.

I don't consider myself a "Debbie Downer" or Eeyore, especially not on personal/familial matters. Rather, I'm just a homosexual warning some of the "family men" here of entrenched decadence.

When I was a kid I realized I lost my retainer a few days prior to vacation. My dad asked where it was and I said back home. When the truth surfaced upon our return, I got the worst ass spanking in history.

Straight, gay, bi, trans, I could not care less. All I know is that 99% of your posts are devoted to ****ting on people's enthusiasm or chastising them for liking literally anything under the sun, never not using the weirdest possible phrasing, in some misguided, high-horse mission to never not be reminding everyone of your obtuse, endlessly depressing opinions on modern filmmaking. I used to think it was a troll job, but I've long since realized it's something much more sad and miserable.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Places like Target and Barnes & Noble have sections dedicated to K-Pop. Not other Asian or European music, but for sure K-Pop. It must sell enough for them to devote shelf space to it.

K-Pop may not register on the public consciousness for older males who grew up on rock, country, etc, but it certainly has some standing in the U.S. with some portion of the population.

Lisa's group Blackpink has multiple videos with over 1B views apiece, some over 2B. And she only just released her first solo album in the last couple of weeks, and one video has over 275M views (which was previously posted in this thread, "Rock Star").

There's certainly some public consciousness about her and K-Pop.
