I feel like Patrick Schwarzenegger is going to get the biggest bump from this season, career-wise. Dude was perfect in his role, got better as it went along, has the name, etc...

The other one is Nicholas Duvernay, who played Zion. That kid has charisma for days, jumped off the screen in his limited time, and is going to be starring in blockbusters before too long.

Ehh kinda underwhelming finale for me.

Couldn't disagree more. It wasn't wildly unpredictable but I like that it wasn't something completely out of the blue that the season hadn't built toward.

Every plotline got wrapped up in a pretty satisfying way, IMHO.

Yeah, I had complained after last episode that *if* that was the end of the Rick/Hollinger storyline then it was just a waste of time. Well, it wasn't the end…and it paid off in spades.

Also, Fabian's scream and fall into the water was absolutely hilarious.

How about the Indian therapist lady?

Rick begged her to help him right then. If she had prioritized his immediate and obvious mental health crisis, then none of that would have happened and we likely don't have five dead people.

She has to live with that for the rest of her life. What a massive fail by her.

What's interesting about this Parker Posey/Carrie Coon thing, is 99.5% of shows would throw Posey in the lead category, Coon in the Supporting category, and take home both trophies.

And this show just won't do it. As much as HBO loves racking up their Emmy count, Mike White just won't let them do it here, and they certainly could.

Posey wins the season, Coon, who was also great, would be more of a "lifetime television achievement award" in that battle. Not that there's anything wrong with that, nor would it be the first time.

Schwartzy is about to make the most money of anybody in whatever his next role. Which is slightly unfortunate, only bc if there's anybody I want back as the next season tie, it's him. But he ain't gonna need to work for $40K/episode anymore on what's next.

I get why people might think the show is overrated, too long etc.
But it does soooo many things right, in a unique style that is sometimes slow build, sometimes shocking, sometimes pensive, sometimes obvious, sometimes funny, all wrapped up in a backwards murder mystery with almost no recurring characters. What he pulls off is remarkable, he has to build from scratch every year with almost nothing to build from. it's why MW gets some slack among his fans for the rare misses in pacing, story etc.
I do hope next year though he goes back a bit towards the more relatable story lines, it's not a coincidence that the girls trip story is getting the most love online. Beyond how rare it is to tell that type of story honestly, it's also the one almost every woman (and many men) can relate to on some level. Few people can relate to a mega wealthy self absorbed family about to be indicted for example, or Sam's character.

But already stoked for season 4.

Tell that to Gaitok on Taco Tuesdays with Mook.

Out of nowhere winner of the episode by the way- Belinda.

I had no interest in that character ever, she was simply there to make Jennifer Coolidge stand out. I was massively disappointed she was the S3 connective tissue (this was while GregGary was kept a secret).

One of the biggest topics of the week was "how much money should she be going for?" With most people like eh, "go for 1M, hope for $500K".

That scene where the son goes for $5M, and she acts the fk out of it, then pulls the "it was all an act, go get it"- surprise scene of the night by far. Nothing anybody else did great was at all surprising, bc they've just been doing it all season. That was the "did NOT see that one coming" scene.

It went from "who at HBO is Natasha Blackwell blackmailing with nude photos" not far upthread to "if I can't get any of these bigger characters back, I'm suddenly not at all upset if Belinda and Zion are the connections at whichever location the next White Lotus is" *real quick*.

I really enjoy the storytelling in this show. The setups, the foreshadowing, the development, the misdirection, and tonight the conclusion. Just so satisfying.

The finale was good.

Unpopular opinion, but this season is my least favorite of the 3.

Pleasant surprises:
1. Patrick Schwarzenegger's acting. His character development was awesome
2. Parker Posey was hilarious the entire season
3. Belinda had a bit of character redemption in the finale. She's still a wet rag, but less of a wet rag than she was midway through

Gripes:
1. Gaitok/Mook storyline was never really interesting
2. Laurie's wrap-up sucked. I hated the way the 3 birds all came together happy to be in each other's good company at the end
3. Incest. Again, completely over the top and unnecessary to be in the show.
4. I really felt Goggins was underutilized. His character had very little payoff and was frustrating more than anything

I'm gonna make a bet and say he's gonna get scooped up by marvel to play Cyclops or something.

To be fair…an 18 yo kid, who just got told everybody else can have pina coladas, and you can have a Coke. He wouldn't be the first 18 yo to take alcohol however he could find it. (Mix this Muscle Milk that I've had pounded down me and it will be fine).

NOW- we have since established there was a whole rack of wine right behind it, and I hardly doubt that a) unnoticed access to consistently drunk/drugged out rich mom/dad's stash at home was hard to come by, nor b)was a rich kid at a resort in Thailand having problems putting drinks on the family tab.

Howeverrrrr- he would be far from the last 18 yo to make horrible decisions to consume alcohol however he could get it, especially after being pissed about the shutdown the night before.

But again, we're having fun nitpicking, and it's been fun to have something to nitpick purely on writing/acting/entertainment content alone for once in awhile.

Harris Dickinson is/was apparently the front-runner for the new Cyclops, but he just signed to play John Lennon in the FOUR Beatles movies, which I imagine will keep him busy for quite some time. If so, I could totally see Schwarzenegger in the role (who is also a real life brother-in-law to Starlord, btw).

I too made the "why the phauck doesn't he clean the blender first"? comment…and the wife responded "because he's a teenage boy". I suppose that's a good enough reason.

In what universe did Goggins' character have "little payoff"? He was responsible for half a dozen deaths, including his own and another main character's.

THR, who if I'm annyone else in that spot, am pissed got an incredibly unfair level of press access on this one, (and I get it, they're all owned by Penske, and Lacey Rose and the team at THR are probably the best in the business rn, but they got it ALL.) And I had about 12 different favorites in their coverage, but this was def one of them:
Quote:

Schwarzenegger sent in a tape based off of a one-sentence descriptor of Saxon, the eldest of the Ratliff children, which read something like "a Southern finance bro who works for his dad and is a total flirt." The producers insist that Schwarzeneggar had to "overcome his last name," which he clearly did and quickly. In fact, he took the advice of his brother-in-law, actor Chris Pratt, who urged him to make his audition tape memorable, which he accomplished by, in his words, "eye-****ing" the camera.
Scwartzy and Pratt at Arnold's family Easter get together, or whatever, where Pratt is training him to eye-fk the camera is really a scene we need in some form on the White Lotus. I've been watching Pratt since before he ever knew how to eye-fk any camera, much less train a Schwarzenegger how to do it.

Build this into S4 Mike White.

Compared to his most recent drama role in Fallout, there was much more depth there than here

I loved everything about Rick's ending - ironically killing his father just before learning it was him, going out in a blaze of glory, etc - but I do agree that his motivation this season was pretty weak. If only because hundreds of millions of people have either never had fathers or tragically lost theirs at a young age, and most of them either got on with their lives or turned out fine, without succumbing to sweaty, delusional revenge fantasies. At the very least, Mike White needed to give us a tangible reason as to why Rick not having a father "ruined his life." Give us just one concrete example as to how a lack of a father kept Rick from doing or achieving X, in relatable/empathetic fashion, and I think I would have been so much more onboard with his plight this season.

I would say that, the one-note repetitiveness of Tim's story, and the season probably being one episode too long, were my only real gripes this season. Otherwise, it was an absolute joy to watch each week and I can't wait for season four.

Underwhelming climax, wanted more chaos. Particularly after the longest buildup of any of the seasons.

I don't dislike Belinda like many on this thread but couldn't stand Zion or their relationship. Felt so unnaturally corny.

I don't mean this as a dig, but I genuinely don't understand how that wasn't enough chaos for you. IMO, anything more would have almost been farce.
