According to the Bryan mayor, Waffle House in BCS is "in the works."

He did an interview on WTAW this morning and said he used to date someone that now works at Waffle House corporate office in Virginia (I would have just said "I have a connection in their corporate office" lol). They have been in conversations about getting a Waffle House in the area. For their distribution system, there would need to be six Waffle Houses, so they are in discussions about Waffle House locations in Bryan, College Station, Navasota, and Hempstead.

https://wtaw.com/bryan-mayor-bobby-gutierrez-on-wtaw-53/

Something doesn't add up. Private label products do require 5+ units for the vendor to dedicate warehouse slots and have the required turn-over. US Foods is the Waffle House vendor AFAIK. There are 20ish WH locations in Houston, and B/CS is served by the Houston USF warehouse.

Yeah. Houston and Austin both have 5+ units, it's not exactly an all-new market, and almost all of the existing chain fast food and sit-down restaurants started out with just one unit without immediate plans for more. Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and McDonald's all entered with just one location locally.

Hard to square it with cheap real estate but a Waffle House near Northgate seems like a gold mine.

There is a location in downtown Athens on Clayton Street, fairly close to the U of Georgia in the base of a tower that I've thought would be a great model for a Northgate location.

Not sure what the plans are for the building replacing the old gas station at Boyett and University but that would be prime time.

I'd be hard-pressed to think of a worse location for Waffle House (other than some comically out-of-the-way location) than the heart of Northgate. It would basically kill the non-student crowd (who would have better tips) while chairs get thrown around nightly as riff-raff pours in and out to cause trouble.

The City of College Station has probably thought about cultivating Northgate into some sort of "downtown" area similar to Athens (GA), Ann Arbor, or even (gasp) Austin, but there would have to be a lot more changes to Northgate before anything like that becomes a reality, and would've been a lot easier if the landlords at Northgate didn't spend the last thirty years driving off every commercial tenant that didn't serve food or alcohol.
. Northgate will look like Rainey street in Austin in 5 years time. It will be a bar district, nothing more, nothing less.

Might have missed it but Wokamole has permanently closed. I ordered from them fairly recently too.

What is going into the old Mr Hamburger location on Texas in Bryan? Went by today and it's being renovated.

Mojo Tortilla is now open until 10 pm. They also have both red and green salsa. Both are very good. The red salsa has some heat to it.

Thanks MiMi for the business! We are getting great feedback on the two salsas. Green is the mild one for the masses and the red is on request for those want heat!

We did quietly start opening until 10pm last weekend. We are officially announcing on social media shortly with this statement.

"Mojo Tortilla Co. is now open until 10pm nightly!!

Thank you, the public, for such a great response and turnout these last 10 days. We knew from the demand that we needed to accelerate extending our hours as soon as possible!

Next up, be on the lookout for us to extend to 24 hours daily!

Thank you BCS!!"

We went on Sunday and had a great experience. Some small hiccups that the manager made right and even gave us a free order of churros. We will definitely be back soon.

The churros are killer. I know it says you only get 2, but it is really like 2 FEET of churros in 6in chunks... Plenty for a family of 4, but i prefer for the family to share their own order, while I have my own.

More details emerging on the downtown Bryan projects. This is the design of the hotel planned for Downtown Bryan at 22nd and Main, called Revelry. It will be a Hilton Tapestry Collection hotel.

It will be five stories and have 128 guest rooms. The hotel will also have meeting rooms, a small ballroom, restaurant space with indoor and outdoor dining, an outdoor event space, and a rooftop bar.

As a reminder, this is phase one of the three phase development planned along Main St from 22nd to MLK. Phase two is an underground parking garage, and a ten-story apartment with ground floor retail. Phase three is another ten-story residential tower and a theater-in-the round symphonic center.

Previous announcement of this project last year: https://www.bryantx.gov/new-mixed-use-development-planned-for-downtown-bryan/

LaSalle Hotel is now independently profitable, right? For a long time it wasn't.

Went to La Familia's new location for breakfast tacos this morning. The new place looks great and (as usual) the food was excellent.

Hours are the same as their old location (6am - 2pm, closed Sundays).

Chatted with Lisa for a bit. She confirmed that the new owners of the other location kicked them out and are planning to open their own restaurant instead.

Yeah. Good luck to the owners at Barron and 6. They better have a really good concept going in there if they want me to go back.

Yeah, kicking out a long time and popular tenant isn't the best foot to be starting on. Of course, there may be other factors at play leading to the lease not being renewed.
maroon barchetta
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The factors explained to me were "the owner sees how much business we bring in and wants to open their own restaurant and get that money for themselves."

Good luck.

Something's not adding up.

What would make more sense I would think is the new owner saw how well they were doing and decided to increase rent on them. Then, they thought "well if we're gonna pay more why not go to a newer facility". Just a guess.

I heard the same as Maroon Barchetta...

If you think it does not work like that, The Kettle might disagree. If property owners think they can make more money some other way, they will try it.

I support them via their 3160 Market location on Holleman, but would go to the new location if I was a Barron customer without hesitation.

Last I checked they only have the "medium green" salsa at the Barron errrrrrrr Greens Prairie location. I'd recommend you venture over and check it out. IYKYK.

I know it is not exactly the same, just saying property owners will do what they want to move on from a tenant in search of more profit...

Maybe you could agree with a slightly better analogy in the case of Ronin... Their lease was not renewed and they adjusted and moved on and hopefully will be back up an running soon...
