Didn't know that. I know Jax has a much more favorable contract than Jefferson did. I guess that puts the Spurs in line for another mid-season move next year if they want to.
So, do you think the Spurs will end up not ever using their amnisty clause?

Looking like the Spurs will get Utah, then Clips, then whomever's corpse comes out of the OKC/Mavs/LAL gauntlet.

Looks to be pretty good for them to get to the Finals.

I agree on Hibbert. That would be a solid piece to build around along with Kawhi and a veteran Tony Parker.

As far as the playoffs, the Suns control their own destiny. If they beat Utah tonight, they own the tiebreaker and could then clinch with a win against the Spurs Wednesday.

So basically, if Phoenix wins tonight, the Spurs can more or less choose their round 1 opponent. And knowing Pop, that would mean that the big 3 and Gary Neal all sit out for sure in Phoenix.

I think the Spurs will sweep the Suns, and beat the Jazz in 5.

Utah is never an easy place to play in the playoffs. Not saying the Spurs will lose, but they definitely don't wanna go there.

Also, rasher what in the name of anything makes you think the Clippers will beat the Grizzlies?

As a Spurs hater, would it be too much to ask for them to throw the game to let Phoenix into the playoffs and then lose to them in round 1?

Yeah, probably asking too much. I should just be happy with last years 1-8 choke job and 4 straight years of playoffs underachieving.

Not going to happen if you let them play 100 best of 7 series against the Suns this year. Hell, you could play every game in PHX and the Spurs would probably still sweep.

Just go sit in the corner with simplyghey and stroke each other's schtick.

They were still a dynasty team in 07 (edit: 08) defending their title. So yeah.

Right, I'm saying the Spurs underachieved in 08 by Spurs standards, but not when compared to the rest of the league.

Also, might want to check again on those winning percentages.

Eh, really only 2.

2008: made it to the WCF. Not really underachieving
2009: 1st round exit to Dallas. I think Ginobili was out and Duncan was injured and basically playing on 1 leg. Plus our bench sucked ass that year. Not really underachieving.
2010: swept by Phoenix in round 2. Underachieved.
2011: Underachieved, even though it was a bad matchup for us.

2010 wasn't a playoff underachievement either. The Spurs were a 6th seed who beat the Mavs in round one in 5 games.

You don't think winning a title carries more weight than flaming out every year in the playoffs? Go read any Mavs thread from last year and see how excited we were to watch another top 3 regular season team. Only titles matter.
