2 – Winning his second Coach of the Year award (2002-03 & 2011-12), Gregg Popovich becomes the sixth head coach in NBA history to win Coach of the Year multiple times. (Don Nelson – 3, Pat Riley – 3, Hubie Brown – 2, Bill Fitch – 2, Cotton Fitzsimmons – 2)

4 – With four NBA Championships, he ranks fifth for most titles by a head coach in NBA history.

6 – The Spurs had the best record in Western Conference for the sixth time in the Coach Popovich era (1996 – present) and most in the NBA (East & West) since he became head coach of the Silver and Black.

9 – San Antonio has won nine division titles, the most in the league under his tenure as the Spurs head coach.

14 – Coach Pop was named the Coach of the Month twice in the 2011-12 season (Mar. & Feb.) and marks the second time he has won the award in back-to-back months (Nov. and Dec. 2010). For his career, he has won a total of 14 Coach of the Month awards, an NBA best.

15a – Since 1997-98 season, Coach Pop, Tim Duncan and the Spurs have the best winning percentage over any 15-year span in NBA history at .702 (830-352) and have the best record in the four major professional sports (NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL) during this time period.

15b – Guided San Antonio to their 15th consecutive postseason berth, which is the longest active streak in the NBA.

16 – In his 16th season at the helm of the Spurs, Gregg Popovich is the longest tenured coach with the same team in all four major professional sports and holds the best winning percentage of the longest tenured coaches in the other three major professional sports at .679 (847-399).

50 - The Spurs won 50 games this season, extending their streak of winning at least 50 games for the 13th consecutive season (1999-00 – present) – all under Popovich’s tenure - surpassing the L.A. Lakers (1979-80 to 1990-91) for the longest streak in NBA history.

109 – Ranks third all-time with 109 playoff wins behind Phil Jackson (229) and Pat Riley (171), while having the most playoff wins among active coaches.

847 – Popovich has 847 career wins, all with San Antonio, ranks second all-time in NBA history for most wins with one team by a head coach.

One of my favorite stats is the Spurs have had 15 straight seasons with a winning road record. That is amazing in any sport.

13 straight wins.

13 more needed for a championship.

Haha, yeah he looks frustrated that he allowed himself that luxury. I swear he's even more stoic than Timmeh was as a rookie.

The spurs are riding a 13-game win streak with an average win margin of 18 points.

And, the only 2 games that they didn't win by a double digit margin involved Tim, Manu, Tony and Pop vacationing....

That Kawhi gif is so great. He really does look like he's pissed for smiling.

Also, Barkley is cracking me up with pronouncing Kawhi's name. Hilarious.

Who do you want next round? I'm thinking LA, but Memphis looks beatable too.
Sher Thing

Probably LAC but it doesn't really matter.

What we really need is the series to hurry up and be over tbqh. For 1. we don't need too much rest since we are playing so great right now and 2. If MEM and LAC go 7 games that guarantees that there will be one B2B played in the second round.

The Clippers look much better and will have the best player kn the floor.

The way Tony is playing this year makes him and CP3 pretty much a wash. After that the rest of the Spurs team and bench > > > > > > > > The rest of the Clippers.

Memphis isn't the team they were last season so I wouldn't mind seeing them either. It's a tough choice tbh.

Memphis plays a more physical brand of ball while the Clippers play a finesse type. I think the Latter benefits the Spurs.

If Paul is better than Parker, it isn't by much (And if Paul is the numero uno, then the Spurs have 2-4 and a much better bench). Also, after Paul, nobody else has any basketball IQ at all (including the Clippers coaches). Popovich will run defensive sets that completely mind**** Griffin and Jordan in the paint. Sure we'll have to eat a couple of highlight dunks, but it's about getting the W. Same on defense. The way the Spurs move the ball on offense will have the Clippers completely confused.

Yes, and get off the thread. This is a spurs thread, go focus on the lakers you effing loser.

Yes. Both are playing at a high level right now. Parker with 24 pts and 8 assists this post-season while CP3 is averaging 22 and 9. Their efficiency rating is identical as well.

Of course you do. Because its just stupid. The numbers dont support it. At all.

The Spurs dont want the clippers. The only good matchup there for them is Pop will coach circles around VDN

What are the #s?

All season my man. Clutch numbers. Anything you want.

Chris Paul is a top 5 nba player. Tony Parker is not.
atfarmer
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Paul: 19.8ppg, .479FG, 9 assists, 2.1TOs
Parker: 18.3ppg, .480FG, 7.7assists, 2.6TOs

Paul is the better distributor (which we knew). He is also a better outside shooter.

Parker is one of the best pure scorers in the entire NBA at any position. He doesn't get 30 points/night because the Spurs have so many offensive weapons, but he had no problem going for 40 multiple times this year when Pop was shorthanded and needed Parker to step up.

And according to MVP ballots Tony Parker was indeed a top 5 player this year.
