The 8 seed is down to HOU/PHO/UTAH.

Denver and Dallas will be 6 and 7.

Most likely, but Dallas's remaining games are HOU, GS, @CHI, and @ATL. Pretty easy to envision them losing 2-3 in there, and although HOU and PHO have tough schedules Utah could potentially win out.

EDIT: In any case, my point was that Dallas/Denver won't tank any games, so Memphis has an outside chance to drop to the 6 seed if they work at it.

There are two things the Spurs want, they want the 1 seed, OR they want Lakers to drop to 4. We don't want both.

If I'm Pop, I play for the win tonight. The top seed is in reach, and if it starts looking like Lakers will drop to 4, Pop can easily tank for #2.

Winning gives you control of your own destiny, and that's what we should play for.

Would be perfect for the Spurs to get the 2 seed, with LAL facing MEM in the 4-5 matchup. There are way too many possibilities, I just hope we take a strong approach and enter the playoffs with momentum. Regardless I don't see the Lakers making the finals either way. And no I dont try to understand simplesimons brain.

Having said that, I doubt Pop even looks into scenarios and tanks accordingly. He's not that kind of coach.

I honestly don't think the lakers are going to be as much trouble as a lot of people are thinking. IMO if you take Kobe off that team, they are difficult to contend with because Bynum is free to go crazy and do what he did last week, and everyone else can feed off of him.

If you take away Bynum, they're still pretty good because Kobe/Gasol are free to do their thing without having to involve Bynum offensively.

If you have all three on the floor at once, there is the tension that develops from Kobe being a superstar and Bynum thinking he's the superstar. It is the same kind of crap that ruined Kobe/Shaq.

The lakers are winning at a 0.627 clip with both players on the floor. They're 0.700 with one of the two missing. I think there are chemistry issues, and I'm not certain Mike Brown has yet figured how to handle all the egos on that roster the way that Phil did.

Problem is both of them obviously have to play big minutes in the playoffs.

Obviously, the laker length gives the Spurs fits. However, if Pop/Buford didn't think they could win in spite of the smallish roster, they'd have figured out how to acquire size over the last couple of years. Either way, I'd rather see the lakers in round #2 than in the conference finals, at which point they'd have a lot more momentum.

good points, wrong justification.

Bynum has been shooting the ball HORRIBLY with Bryant out. Kobe forces double teams, and now Pau/Bynum are seeing those double teams. Bynum is notorious for not being able to pass correctly out of the double teams. He's been getting better at it, but this has been the primary reason the lkaers run an elbow high/low with Gasol being the entry pass to bynum off the reverse.

Now, team's are throwing 2/3 people at Bynum on the catch. Please, please do that when Kobe gets back.

Look at the last two games Kobe played when a team decided to double Pau/Bynum and not Kobe:

13-19 FG, 31pts, 6 asts, 5rbs in 37mins
16-28 FG, 40pts, 5 asts, 3rbs in 37mins

I've been looking all over for the double teaming stats on nba.com, can you reference them simple?!?!?!?

It's not that the Spurs can't beat the Lakers, it's just that they possess the worst matchup and they play the most physical brand of basketball in the west (morso then mem). That's not exactly the type of team the Spurs want to play.

I still think the Spurs can win a 7 games series against LAL with home court but it would definitely take a great effort and a lot out of us compared to running up and down with no contact against a team like the Clippers.

So do i. He will go for 30 leaving him that wide open.

Spurs looked like they were going to crumble out of the gate but now they are looking like they came to play. Should be entertaining at least.

I think it is too late in the season to play Tim/Tiago together. They looked like they were getting in each other's way on offense.

Pretty sure it was for defense because Blair is garbage and got destroyed last time vs Lakers
aggie_2001_2005
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah Splitter is in for defense primarily, and it is blatantly obvious from this first quarter that he will get all Blair's minutes if the Spurs meet the Lakers in the playoffs.

Spurs defense is 100x better when he is on the floor vs. Blair.

Blair shouldn't even see the floor.

Duncan> Splitter> Bonner> Diaw> Blair

I would like to see less of S Jax if Kobe isn't on the floor. He doesn't do much good if he isn't being used for D on Kobe.

It would be nice for Jax to hit a three every once in a while.

*********Jackson is worthless. He should ride the bench until he is needed for situation defensive matchups. No excuse for him to be out there with the talent available.

Jax has been shooting bricks from the arc of late.
aggie_2001_2005

His shots are not even close. He needs to only shoot from inside 20 feet until he gets some kind of rhythm.

In fairness, Jackson was shooting this poorly before we picked him up.

Spurs shooting lights out considering mostly jump shots. Lakers have more turnovers.

And the Spurs are still losing.

Kobe should just sit out fri @SA too.

Please god let the Lakers meet the Spurs in the WCF

Blake killing the Lakers. Spurs did a great job on Sessions who still looks hurt.

This would be the time kobe would faciliate or go on a scoring spree. Offense is stagnant while Bynum rests.

Lakers should go back to artest on the block
aggie_2001_2005
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Simple******bag,

Bynum's strategy is to camp 10 seconds in the lane every trip. He wouldn't be jack **** if he played by the rules either.

Lakers really missijg Kobe for his D specifically. All these gaurds and wings getting into the lane with ease.

Artest with 3 fouls hurts. Spurs should be able to go on a run here
