What are THE facts? Not regurgitated points you hear on sports talk radio that are only made to stir the pot; not vague similarities that have no real correlation; not your usual circumloquaciousness

What are the FACTS us Spurs fans are ignoring?

Compared to where the Spurs were predicted, this season has been pretty successful.

Reading is not your strong suit. But it never has been. Here are THE FACTS. It's sheer ignorance and almost trolling for spurs fans to compare their team to the best team ever:

quote:
When's the last time a team had 3 double digit winning streaks in the same season? I'm thinking 96 Bulls.

Dallas Mavericks 2007 Season-
Nov 9- Dec 1st: 12 straight wins
Dec 13-Jan 5: 13 straight wins
Jan 27-Mar 11: 17 straight wins

I'll I bet even you can guess if it happened between 1996-2007.

Also- since then there have been 5 teams that have finished with better season winning percentages than the Spurs have this year.

So you Spurs fans should probably pump the breaks before comparing them to the best team ever, since they may not even be the best team of the past 3 years.

Idgaf if they're the best team ever, the best of the last three years or better than last year. All I care about is whether they're good enough to win it THIS year, and only a simpleton would intimate that they aren't, your pointless platitudes notwithstanding.

Nobody was comparing the teams. They were comparing accomplishments.

Other stuff that some have a hard time handling:

quote:
The Spurs are one of four former American Basketball Association teams to remain intact in the NBA after the 1976 ABA-NBA merger and is the only former ABA team to have won an NBA championship. The Spurs have won four NBA championships, more than any NBA franchise except the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, and Chicago Bulls. The Spurs' perfect record in NBA Finals series is surpassed only by the Chicago Bulls, who have won six without a loss;[1] the Bulls and Spurs are the only two teams to maintain perfect records through multiple Finals series.

Then you should be comparing them that most recently done by the 2007 Mavs. Why is this so hard to understand. That is first thing I said. it's comparable to the '07 Mavs.

quote:
The Spurs are easily closer to them than one of the best teams ever.

2007 is more recent then 1996 right? You never know with you Spurs fans' subjective logic.

IF (noting how big that IF is, of course) the Spurs make the Finals, there are going to be a ton of storylines to follow almost regardless of who their opponent is in the Finals.

--Chicago: two franchises that have never lost in the Finals, and two of the top COY candidates in Thibs and Pop

--Boston: The Big Ticket vs. The Big Fundamental one more time on the sports' biggest stage. Boston's Big 3 vs. San Antonio's Big 3. Doc Rivers finished his playing career as a Spur. Matt Bonner is from the New England area.

--Indiana: All-ABA Finals for only the second time ever. George Hill was Popovich's "favorite player" while he was in San Antonio, and would get to go against the team and town that embraced him while playing for his hometown Pacers.

--Miami: Miami's Big 3 vs. San Antonio's Big 3. Spurs would look for revenge on Shane Battier for his role on last year's Grizzlies squad. LeBron would look for retribution against Pop for shaming him and the Cavs in the '07 Finals.

--New York: This one would be the kicker. The last time SA and nYk met in the Finals was in 1999, also a lockout shortened season. Also, should the Knicks make the Finals, they'll have to do so from very low in the playoff seedings (the '99 Knicks were an 8th seed). Ironically enough, to get there the Knicks would have to beat Miami in the first round--same as their 1999 squad.

God simplebay, you are such a ****ing retard.

Comment - wow 3 winning streaks of 10+ games in one (condensed) season, that's impressive . Has that happened since the 96 bulls?

Simplebay - OMG the mavs did it, you think you're the 96 bulls?

Comment - .... where'd you that from?

Simplebay - stop ignoring the facts! you're the 07 mavs, despite the fact that your defense is substantially better, and you run a completely different offense, and the mavs finished 6-4 on the season.

I gotta admit, it's effective debating simplebay. If you ignore what other posters are actually saying and take things incredibly out of context, it sure makes it easy to "win" the debate. There isn't anyone on this board that would compare the spurs to the '96 bulls or any other number of teams. The only thing we can say is that the spurs had on the two best regular seasons this year. We'll see how that translates in the playoffs, and if the Spurs do well we can talk about where they rank all time.

Also, you're accusing spurs fans of trolling. hey dumbass, this is a spurs thread. Which means that there will be more optimism about the spurs than on oh, say.. the lakers thread. Why don't you quit acting like a huge ****ing ******, trying to put every spurs fan in his place, and just chill the hell out?

*cue simplebay's "oh he mad" picture that just makes him look like a freaking retard*

ESPN.com agrees, Pop has NO chance to win COY

Results: Gregg Popovich, Spurs (15); Tom Thibodeau, Bulls (10 votes); Lionel Hollins, Grizzlies (3); Frank Vogel, Pacers (2).

And actually, the 96 Bulls only had 2 double digit win streaks. A 13 and an 18 game. So the fact is, the spurs may end up with one more double digit win streak. That was the only question asked

Dallas Mavericks 2007 Season-
Nov 9- Dec 1st: 12 straight wins
Dec 13-Jan 5: 13 straight wins
Jan 27-Mar 11: 17 straight wins

who cares if it did, the question was when was the last time it happened. The conjecture was the 96 bulls, he was wrong.

He didn't even say we were as good, just was asking when/has this been done before?

Actually we can compare all we want, as comparing is just examining similarities and differences.

Honestly, what I want to see the most. Would be awesome to punk Lebron in the finals once again. And to hopefully see Wade cry.
