Agreed with Camping that the ballpark sucks the life out of the game, even on TV.

Same thing with this offense (echoing what's already been said). Before the past few years, even a 7 run deficit didn't seem insurmountable so you stayed engaged the entire time waiting for the bomb run to commence.

They also show zero life out there. Gone are the days of Beltre/Elvis shenanigans on pop ups, the claw and antler, or even any apparent joy being a MLB ballplayer.

It all adds up to a boring experience.

I think that's why the "Little Rascals" last year caught on so quickly. They seemed excited to be playing ball and played like they had nothing to lose.

And we all still keep tuning in nightafter night

I live in Houston and normally watch the Rangers broadcast. Tonight I turned it on and didn't realize it was Astros but they showed this graphic. It's pretty amazing.

Astros certainly don't have a problem hitting home runs and putting up numbers in this ballpark

Carter needs some time back in the minors. He is on a fast track to a sub .150 average. Hard to watch.

The Rangers got a total of 21 hits in a 4 games series. That is just abysmal and how can any fan watch this crap.

This year we bought a 5 game pack, currently my wife and I are 0-3 at games. But I hate the ballpark too, I can't believe how many obstructed view seats there are, the amount of pumped in noise ruins the experience, and it all seems so off compared to the old park. Wednesday there was a period where no sound was played for several pitches and I joked that someone's laptop was updating. But it was nice to just watch baseball without random noise after every dang pitch.

I check scores during the game and look at box /play by play to see what happened in critical moments.

I have no idea how you guys spend hours watching these awful games multiple times per week. Until this team plays better baseball, they are simply not worth watching. For a baseball fix, the mlb channel is great when they jump around to different games.

It's a team devoid of personality... but it has been for many years (including the World Series year).

Trade deGrom, Eovaldi and Seager at the trade deadline and beef up the farm system. It's now proven this team can't win as is.

I grew up in the Metroplex and have plenty of experience watching bad baseball (unfortunately!).

We go have Aggie baseball this weekend, so there is that to add to the baseball mix. Might help, or might make things worse, lets see what kind of pitching the Aggies get this weekend.

Given the contracts attached to each of those (and their ages), we won't get the return that we might otherwise expect, unfortunately.

I keep hearing those names being traded.

I'm with you, we're not going to get much for them. More AAAA players. CY would trade for more pitchers and guys like Nick Lopez.

As bad and unentertaining as their offense has been, there are 5-6 that are worse. The game overall has an issue.

10 years ago, 1 team averaged exactly 4.00 runs or less per game. Now there are 9.

The return might not be great but you have to start rebuilding.

Yeah unfortunately the high $ players we have don't have a ton of value in regards to getting prospects in a trade. If we trade them, it would be more of a salary dump than a actual 'reload the farm system' move. Fire Kip F, and get the scouting upgraded.

There is talent in the lower levels. If you can get a couple of players that are serviceable for them you could become more aggressive in Free Agency, that is assuming that you have a new gm and front office.

It's a mystery to me how Kip F has held on to his job for so long. I know drafting and developing is as much art as science, but the Rangers have not been good at it under his watch. We've had more busts than hits in the draft, and the farm system is barren. The complaint I've had, going back to when Langford was a prospect, is that we don't have waves of prospects. Our system rankings have historically been tied to one or two players (i.e. Jurickson Profar), and depth just hasn't been there.

Then you look at how the Dodgers operate and it's stomach turning. They not only buy whatever player they want, they have an elite farm system and have had one for years. This gets me to my biggest issue with the franchise direction -- namely that there isn't one. We haven't committed to spending big, and we haven't committed to building through the farm system. Pick a freakin' lane. In my opinion, we're not gonna outspend the Yankees or Dodgers, so we'd better get elite at developing players. So therefore, the whole player development department needs to be flushed and rebooted.

Maybe this summer will see a whole sale rebuild emerge, but I doubt it. CY doesn't seem to want that and Davis seems too prideful to sit through 3-4 years of rebuilding. So the Rangers will just continue skidding sideways. At least we probably won't have baseball in 2027, so we'll be spared the brain damage of watching them.

Maybe no one will take the big fish, but I'm hoping now that Joc isn't the worst player in the MLB, someone will take him and a few bullpen pieces off our hands (ie Junis)

I'm really afraid we are back to circa 2022 when this franchise was totally hopeless and aimless. We have no minor league talent, our young talent at the MLB level is proving to not have genuine staying power, and we have overpaid players not contributing. We have an owner who is willing enough to spend but the front office and coaching is apparently a mess. CY is an incredibly likable guy and a great rep for our team and DFW, so it's hard to see us in this situation.

2023 was obviously a blessing from above, payback for suffering the cruelty of 2011.

Another reason to watch tonight - Aggie Stephen Kolek is on the bump for the Royals. He's having a great year so far (limited starts)

I am surprised we haven't been talking about this more here; the MLBPA and Owners have both presented their first official proposals for the new CBA. Here's what's on the table in each proposal:

Key Owner Proposals (MLB)
  • Hard Salary Cap: A strict cap of $245.3 million for 2027, the first such proposal since 1994, aiming for "cost certainty".
  • Salary Floor: A minimum team payroll floor of $171.2 million, requiring roughly 12 teams to increase spending.
  • Revenue Sharing & Split: Proposal for a 50/50 revenue split with players, alongside fully sharing local television revenue.
  • Definition of Payroll: Using the average annual value (AAV) of contracts to calculate cap compliance.
Key Player Proposals (MLBPA)
  • Major Minimum Salary Increase: Raising the league minimum salary to $1.5 million by 2027.
  • Higher Luxury Tax (CBT): Increasing the first Competitive Balance Tax (CBT) threshold to $300 million.
  • Expanded Free Agency/Arbitration: Allowing players with five+ years of service to become free agents at age 30, and expanding arbitration eligibility.
  • "Competitive Integrity Tax": Punishments for teams that fail to meet minimum payroll benchmarks, rather than a hard cap.
  • Pre-Arb Bonus Pool: Expanding the bonus pool for young players to $180 million.
Ngl I think the owners proposal is pretty dang strong off the bat. I like the expanded free agency/arb proposal by the MLBPA, and the pre-arb bonus pool. Shout out to google for summarizing this for me.

Owners with a hard cap at $245. Players with no tax until $300. There's going to be no baseball for awhile.
Tksymm7

LOL.

I think the players are going to have to get serious about the salary cap. So many perceived good position players are playing like dog crap, and do not justify the money being spent on them, so there's another feather in the cap for the owners. Offense continues to get worse year after year after year, and I don't think owners really want to pay position players 30+ million per year for your 4 hole hitter to bat 0.240.

I'll pay pitchers in this age of baseball any day, but count me out on wanting to sign Vladdy, Soto etc. to monstrosity contracts.
cmiller00

Owners want a cap because cost certainty has resulted j. basketball and football franchise values growing at a faster rate than baseball. But they'll continue to say it's for parity and the good of the game and the fans.
