I don't think there was a part I didn't enjoy.

Also love the mother wearing the riding gloves.

I like the development of the mother, and how she has met/helped the whole gang now.


As a side note, I fully hate Lily now. She has ZERO right to be pissed at Marshall. I think that abandoning your SO to go find yourself in California/running up a bunch credit cards to the point that your SO has to take a job he hates grants the other party(Marshall) at least one freebie(run-on?). If they move to Italy I will buy the Bro Code just to burn it.

Also, Ted's KO was epic!

Loved all of it except for lilly/robin bits. Those weren't too bad though.

Mother continues to steal every scene she is in.

So she has met/helped everybody but robin right? I guess it's fitting she helps robin last.

I thought it was ok, I liked the little things like the mother wearing gloves.

I agree 100% with you Hunter2012 - I can't stand Lilly.

Like that they finally gave us a reason for the mother to like Ted.

Wasn't that funny but it was nice to see everything coming together. Again, the mom is growing on me.

I agree, chipotle. Didn't laugh a lot, but it was just a quality episode.

Except Lily is garbage. She has got to be the most selfish character on TV right now.

Apparently the proper response to being wronged is to do wrong. So, since Lily was a selfish db in the past, Marshall gets to be one now. But is that a 1:1 thing? He gets to do wrong once for each time that she did? Or is it 1:1 to get even, plus once more for punitive damages? Or is his get-out-of-jail-free card good for the lifetime of the bearer?

Relationship math is hard.

what I was saying is that Lily has taken SO much from their relationship that she needs to give back. Yes marshal screwed up, but it's hypocritical for Lily to be so pissed off.

What exactly has Marshall done? He accepted a job that he basically had to take then and there. He could actually still turn it down and more or less be back where he was.



Lilly left him shortly before they were married to go tramp around San Fran.

Ran up a huge amount of debt, as a Kindergarden teacher, which basically forced Marshal to go work at a corporation. Oh, and then she wondered about him "not being the man he married" because he took the job.

She then basically dumped the kid with him and their relationship so she could go play Art Bimbo for the captain.

Now she's asking them to move to Italy. Her family sux, so what does she care about being away from her dad. But she's asking Marshall to basically have little contact with his.


She's a d-bag.

Bad write would be my guess.

Using her as a plot device.

How have we not talked about The Dream of Dump Day.

I can't imagine any situation in which I would make such a major family decision without discussing it with my wife first. And if I can't discuss it with her first, then no deal. (And no way would I believe this is the one and only chance he'll ever have to become a judge.)

But for the sake of argument, assuming I took the job without discussing it with her first: I immediately call her and say "this just happened." Immediately.

Agreed he should have discussed it with her, but again, it doesn't justify how pissy she is about it.

Mad, yeah. But she's acting like he ruined there life.

Compound it with her previous actions, she's a d-bag.

Marshall needs to grow a pair and put his foot down. I am so sick of Lily. He needs to just bring up everything that MSC Ag posted a few posts up and tell her that she needs to deal with it. He has a once in a lifetime chance, and she has done nothing but act selfish throughout the series.

If he had the opportunity to discuss it with his wife and the offer remained on the table for like 24 hours or something then yeah he should have called Lily.

However Lily has been incredibly selfish their entire relationship and Marshall always goes out of his way to compensate.

Furthermore his decision makes so much sense long term. Lily's job in Rome was for a year...a judgeship is a lifelong career. Marshall has the right to pursue a lifelong amazing opportunity at the expense of Lily's year long vacation.

Solid episode. I definitely liked it which is good because after the episode with Barney's family and after the rehearsal dinner episode I was reeeeaalllly down on this season.

This season is violating the first rule of TV which is "don't be afraid to be entertaining". It's also violating the second rule which is "keep your main characters your main characters." I understand incorporating the mother into the plot, heck she's been an off screen main character since the first episode. But as much as I like Wayne Brady and John Lithgow in this series they aren't main characters. I feel like Loretta has gotten more screen time than Marshall this season for goodness sake. That says nothing of the complete loss of McLarens and the apartment which are basically characters in their own right.

Basically we've got one long rambling season that mishandles the characters and is relying on reference humor from past seasons. If this season where a pilot, it wouldn't be picked up by a network. Sad for one of the better shows on TV.
