That episode was awesome... Another slap episode, Kill Bill and Boyz II Men. Plus Robin was hot as a geisha.

Also I hope JFF was watching. "Cleveland is the city equivalent of being slapped in the face".

Thought that episode was awful, with only a few left it was a wasted episode.

Just horrible. It's too bad they didn't take a page from Scrubs - whose last season (not counting the spin off) left me wanting more. This sad, drawn out to a show I've enjoyed for years just has me wishing for a swift end.

That was bad. If they had to have complete filler episodes like this, it should have just been a 10-12 episode season, and made way for a new show to start in January.

This. What's sad is this is the kind of episode that would have been hilarious if they'd attempted it 5 years ago. This was like a bad impression of what HIMYM used to be.

Good idea (the martial arts traveling the art of the slap) but just didn't get pulled off.

Yall get a funny episode that actually takes care of a necessary plot point (one of the two remaining slaps) and all you can do is complain. Earlier in the thread everyone was complaining that the show got away from its roots (scenes in the bar), but now that you get an episode in the bar you complain that this episode would have been funny 5 seasons ago. I honestly don't know what yall want from this show. Please, tell me.

The problem is that it wasn't funny. I didn't laugh once. I was actually looking forward to this episode because I've liked the slap related ones in the past. But this was just idiotic.

This. Good idea, piss poor execution. But chipotle's right, at least it wasn't the rhyming episode. All remaining copies of that thing need to be buried in an airtight below-ground bunker so no one ever has to watch that turd again.

its either funny or its not. When it was aired should have no bearing on it. The problem isn't the shows writing. The problem is all of you loons have built up some orgasmic ideal of himym in your heads and so of course nothing lives up to it. You will never be satisfied so I don't understand why you even bother. The standard of writing is about where it has always been - the only difference is your expectations. Its never been the golden standard of television and it never will be - similarly it isn't the pure trash you seem to claim. If its that bad, once again, stop watching.

The Episode before this one was significantly better than pretty much any other episode this season.

Hell, I find most every episode this season to be just fine. I don't expect every single line to be golden. However, the rhyming episode and this latest slap episode were both trash.

This episode was so bad, I was embarrassed for the cast and crew.

THIS X 1000. Yall are ridiculous.

The expectations were that they're wrapping this thing up. But instead of progessig the story along they took a tired joke and ran with it for 22 brutal minutes.

I could have been alight with the whole slap theme but damn throw some other ***t in there.

Not really enjoying it anymore... Still watch because of some kind of compulsion I have towards completeness...

Agree completely. We're saying it wasn't funny the other day, and that if they had aired this exact episode 5 years ago it wouldn't have been funny then, either. My point was that if they had sat down 5 years ago and said "lets do a Kill Bill-themed episode where Marshall uses one of his slaps," they would have come up with something much better than the steaming pile we saw this week.

Bottom line it was not funny. It could have made a funny side story in an episode but to use all 22 minutes on a bit that was tired after the first 4 minutes was just lame.

As for expectations, I don't think it's unfair to suggest that fans of a show who have watched and discussed who the mother is for years expect a better final season.

As I said earlier, Scrubs was a show whose last season was so great people were screaming for more. So much so that they made a spin off (that many hated, but still). Here, we have a show that is just phoning it in with this whole 72 hours before the wedding bit. They either can't think of enough story to fill the 72 hours or they've just given up.

Either way it's like watching an old friend suffer and I just want him to be out of his misery.

That was by far the worst episode in the series' history. They really tried way too hard to make the slap episode legen....dary but what a crapfest. I thought they pulled the rhyming one off better than I imagined they would but this was terrible. Give me the puns and throw the rest of that episode in the trash.

Not worth arguing about but some of you are pretty ridiculous with your sitcom expectations.

Best episode ever? No, but it kept me and the wife entertained for 30 minutes. We got a few laughs.

That’s all I expect from a 30 minute sit-com.

There in lies the difference. Some of us were not entertained at all. A funny line about Cleveland does not make a whole episode. But I guess we can agree to disagree as Ron Burgundy would say.

My only problem was after all the build up it was just a normal slap.
