Beth is just starting to get insufferable
She's been that way for awhile now in my opinion. Her one liners are all so cringeworthy.
extremely underrated opinion. we watch this show with our neighbors, and the wives think that Beth is God's gift to feminism and empowerment. i think she is just a predictable-one-liner wet sock who needs to be taken to the train station.
Beth jumped the shark for me back when she was being raped in her office. Dudes beat her to a pulp, killed her assistant in front of her, and are about to rape and kill her. And she's completely unfazed and dropping needle richard one liners on the dude. Hard to take the character seriously after that.
This. They missed an opportunity to show her being vulnerable even though she tries hard to put on a hard exterior. That could have humanized her but they couldn't help themselves.

Instead she's only vulnerable and cries to a walker song when daddy kicked her out of the house.

Another thing I've been wondering is whether Jamie is actually John's nephew. John's wife has been long dead, we still don't know much about her extended family. I think Mrs. Dutton is the sister of either Jamie's mom or dad. Jamie was taken in too young to know that the Duttons aren't his actual parents. John's wife would have been alive at the time to care of a baby, and if she was the closest blood relative it wouldn't be a difficult adoption to make happen.

I started watching Seinfeld on Netflix recently. Those episodes are like 25 minutes long. Not even sure an hour long show today, like Yellowstone, is 25 minutes long lol

Yellowstone this season surely isn't 25 minutes when you cut the space filler scenes of random horse riding, rodeo, or walker singing an entire song. I've started just fast forwarding those scenes as they have no point. Show flys by

I like/enjoy the show and am much more forgiving than many of you about the BS nature of much of it but you bring up a good point here….I like Ryan Bingham but his turns as Walker singing those songs have done him absolutely no favors. They all sound exactly the same and frankly haven't been very good. It's been a beating.

It will be something along those lines. Either Jamie's mom was One of John or his wife's sisters, or Jamie's dad was Johns brother in law.

I think it would have been a better product as a limited series.

Can anyone sum up the main story line this season? What exactly is the big picture?

Weird season overall. I always thought of it as a mafia show with cowboy hats and that just isn't there this year. Show me rival families working together against a common enemy. There have been a couple scenes total (not even one per episode) where the Duttons seem to care that they all nearly died at the end of season 3.

I honestly think people complain about this show because with just some attention to detail and editing, it could really be fantastic. It deserves to be better.

I'd like to see this series wrap up with a solid conclusion.
The story lines are getting repetitive or lame.
The Kasey and the wolf story line is terrible.
End this one with a solid ending and build demand for the spin offs.
I'd hate to see it go the walking dead route and drag on until they lose viewers which kills the spin off potential.

Same here. This show has gone way off the rails from where it started.

Didn't Beth say a season or so ago the Dutton women don't have long life spans? And since I'm watching the marathon, John just said the ranch ha been in the family 132 years.

Has season 4 talked about Duttons career with the Dallas cowboys prior to his ranching days as a defensive lineman?

At the beginning of the episode I was thinking that John was unaware of Garrett Randall's involvement with his attempted killing, based on what he told Beth about his killer. By the end of the episode, it became obvious that John knows how Randall and Riggins are connected. So why didn't he mention Randall to Beth? Why only Riggins?

Are we sure John has connected Riggins to Randall? Was that implied earlier or did I forget something?

The conversation in the diner was so sudden it took a while to register that I needed to perk up and pay extra attention

I don't think so. If john knew he did it, he'd already be dead.

What's the timeline, did Landry kill Jamie's father?!?
Pahdz
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Right, and what he said in the diner to him led me to believe he has NOT connected Riggins to Randall.

I believe that connection is what was supposed to happen with Dale before that diner shootout. It was made to look like those were random tweakers but I believe they were hired hands.

The way the writing has been declining on the show this wouldn't surprise me but having those tweakers in the diner be anything other than a random/chance encounter with John and Rip would be about the laziest, sloppiest, most contrived bit of writing yet.

I think John knew they were cellmates. I'm sure John was very involved with trying to have Garrett spend his life in prison. From the diner conversation, it seemed like John took a personal interest in that case. I'm thinking John giving his plate of food to Garrett was setting the scene for something to come.

He took it personal because Randall killed his sister if I'm not mistaken.

If Randall killed John's sister....then how is Randall still alive? They've killed for much less than that on the show.
