It's a primetime soap opera. Gotta get in that mindset and then it's fun. But plot holes, cheesy acting, eye-rolling dialogue and dead people brought back to life are just going to be a thing.

Yes it was.
When John comes home from the hospital and talks to Beth on the porch, John tells Beth she should live in the lodge (main house) until they figure this out. Beth responds that they were now living in the "foreman's house" and John says good the cabin is too remote. Beth says....they killed the cabin too daddy.
Their house was the cabin they had built for them. Now they are back in the foreman's house which is where Rip lived before they got married.

Shootout scene at the end was dumb and pointless.
Cattle guard scene was funny but ridiculous (I know we're always going to get a certain level of ridiculous so I'll lean towards funny and suspend my logic brain for a while)
Hunting down the militia guys at the beginning was entertaining.

Seems like they would have been concerned about crossfire with police on both sides of the militia guys in the truck.

Thought it was a bullet.
He ejected the round in the pipe and dropped the mag and threw it off to the side so he could make the shootout a fair fight.
