Great opener. Lots of plot twists and open questions. Really curious about Kayce and just WTF is going on. Mentioned to my wife just before Kayce popped up in the ghille suit that we hadn't seen him, Monica, or Tate. Overall, great opener.

I haven't seen a rattler to the face since Lonesome Dove…

So hokey, yet so entertaining.

I'm not sure I'd read too much into that. There wasn't any flow at all to the dialog/scenes in the first episode. They crammed so much in there I'm just going to assume editing cuts removed a lot of normal conversation you would expect to have heard in multiple different scenarios.

Teeter's actually speaking coherently this season. I guess getting trampled by the horses did yield one positive effect.

With regards to the branding of the yellow stone ranch theme that John Dutton introduces, and comparisons to the King Ranch and trucks with their brand... How much you want to bet that Dodge introduces a "Yellow Stone" package on the Ram truck in the next year or so?

Not saying it's not possible but having Kayce as some Sixth Sense apparition would be drastically out of character for the show.
And I'll add, I thought the episodes were fine but after the cliffhanger from last season, for them to gloss over the immediate months after the attack left me unfulfilled. Beth's injuries? Kayce's injuries? What everyone else was doing in the immediate aftermath? No real explanation for any of this. Seems odd to just skip over all of this.

i get wanting to see it but......
they were in no condition to fight
they did not know who it was
completely in defensive mode
they had to recover before they consider any retaliation anyway
their patriarch was incapacitated they would not make a move without him or until after he died
but watching people just heal isn't good TV so....skip it

My irritation with the "king ranch" comparison is that the King ranch has been branding their name for a few decades. John Dutton "suddenly " thought about this...lazy writing pisses me off and this series lazy writes like a MF'er. I guess Beth's tits and Rips ass are a distraction for lazy people.
And you're probably right. Stupids will buy a "Yellowstone" package.

I wonder if they're setting up Jimmy and Taylor Sheridan for the other spinoff for this show. Was supposed to be something in Texas.

It's all about setting up the new series.Cromagnum said:Blanco Jimenez said:

Yeah, that whole plot line is dumb besides Sheridan probably paying big money to get his face and horses on screen. Could totally do without it.
I didn't even recognize that was her until my wife told me. I said "I could understand her so didn't realize."Anonymous Source said:

And pretty safe bet that's where John is sending Jimmy..."where cowboying was born" or something like that.ChipFTAC01 said:

That's Yellowstone! Now we see how many disappear and how many continue.Spotted Ag said:
Loved the premiere. The gun battle was crazy although I'm fairly certain those guys wouldn't have popped out of that van after getting rammed like they did. Yeah, that rattler to the face was amazing but dead that fast, maybe he was allergic.
Overall, that was all over the place. Felt like about 8 new subplots added to the main and ones already there. I was tired after watching.
