I thought the way Jimmy was handled in the episode last night and the moment with him and Lloyd was outstanding.
Jimmy's story was the only redeeming portion of the finale. Everything else was lazy and predictable.

This. Did the "Longmire" writers take over at some point this season?JCA1 said:
I have no idea what that vision quest thing was.
Yea the goodbye was just cringy. Would have played off so much better had Jimmy and Colby just hugged it out, then Jimmy gets in the truck, rolls down the window and tells Colby he will see he and his mom at Thanksgiving.Jimmy McNulty said:One Louder said:Pahdz said:

Except for the way overdone "your mom" jokes

Did Casey tell Monica he saw the end of them? I thought that was what I heard.

Yeah
Writers "hey - lets make it so the audience knows something bad happens, but doesn't know what, just like we don't, but then when it happens, we can reference it back to that worthless season with the wolf and the paths"TXAG 05 said:
He was shown 2 paths and he didn't look like either one was good. "The end of us" could mean a bunch of different things. End of the Dutton ranch, end of him being with Monica/her family, everyone dying or some other tragedy.
I think most of us will agree, that we hope that it means the end of Monica. That is one character we can do without.TXAG 05 said:

Exactly.
The writers have no idea what "the end of us" refers to either.

To think Jamie wasn't smart enough to see Beth was setting him up for blackmail when he took the body to the train station…
But, assuming he used the gun Beth had in his office. He could easily just frame her back that it was her gun, and she had motive…plant the gun in her car and have the new sheriff find it.
The storylines in this show are just all around garbage.
In a good way?aggiepaintrain said:
Pro Tip: 1883 is on a whole other level.

I think Sheridan is setting up for Kasey to take the Native American side in a showdown over the Yellowstone....what happened to the Native Americans wanting their ancestral homeland back anyway? I mean, the Native Lawyer girl hinted strong at it in the finale of Season 3 and then we never saw her again in season 4 was kind of strange....but I guess TS couldn't fit her in over his cutting horses!

Some random thoughts:
It was nice to see that Jimmy got promoted to "Jim" as a sign of respect from John Dutton in their conversation. And, evidently, one can leave with John's permission even carrying the brand. But leave without it, and it will not end well for you.
Beth now "owning" Jamie will surely have some interesting twists in next season. Will he be forced to give up the one thing he values (the AG job) or be left in place to do the Duttons' bidding as battles for Yellowstone pick up?
This season marked a definite "softening" of John's character:
His empathy for the protester;
His connection with "boy"
His willingness to allow Jim (formerly Jimmy) to leave the ranch with his blessing
His willingness to not draw the battle lines, allowing Kaycee to take his wife and son off Yellowstone to their own place
It seems like he's starting to recognize that he won't have the energy, resources and resolve to fight the big battle (for Yellowstone itself) if he expends the same level of time, resources and efforts to the multiple fronts he formerly fought.
