The more I think about it, love it or hate it, that was maybe the most daring single episode of TV I've ever seen.
You had a near suicide, brothers kissing, a crazy long story about a man thinking he's an Asian woman with graphic details, a friend completely screwing over another friend and letting her true colors show (even though she did earlier on the dance floor with the Russian girls watching), interlaced with crazy good comedy "Bill Clinton wrote a book", tension the entire way through, and through all of that, it only raised the drama for the next episode when all this has to be dealt with.
Like I said, many are going to have visceral reactions, I'm not even fully sure how I feel, it's gonna take a while to decompress. But man did he go for it tonight. Gotta respect MW's game.

I will say Parker Posey's character has grown on me, and she's one of the more normal ones as the season progresses (perhaps that's the point, with her pills being gone and all).

my favorite line of the night (and there were a lot of them) was when she she asked her daughter "why did you drag us to Taiwan?" (When they are 2000 miles away in Thailand)

Now, I'm not going to say that makes her the least sane character here, but she doesn't even know where the fk she is.

She's the star of the show for sure though.

I thought it was a great episode.

We've now created conflict points for every group of characters.

We knew the brothers or at least the family situation was going to lead to something incestual.

The old bags are now completely ****ed for the rest of their stay with infighting. It can go 20 different directions.

The 2 *****s are severely compromised with saxson and lachlan

I've got half a mind to wonder if Goggins' favor for Sam's character will be to play the male escort in order to get closer to a hit or use it to squeeze his mark.

That Sam Rockwell scene seems like it was tailor-made for Matthew McConaughey.

If you're doing an 8ep miniseries, it was really the perfect tilt point.

Slow builds before (which were entertaining), expected plot lines in some ways (though you didn't know how they'd manifest), and still surprises.

Episode 5 is your tilt point on 8, and that rocked it.

If you've watched 2 seasons of this show already, and didn't watch episode 5 and say "yep, we're going somewhere" idk what to tell that person.

I watch this type of show with subtitles on. During the eery music moments, the subtitles say "vocalists vocalizing",which is funny to me for some reason. Also not sure what I would imagine the sound was if I had actually become deaf.
