Yup, agree completely. I'd really like to see the video if one exists. Luckily, I know the moment if/when it comes out it will be shared here on TA so there is almost no chance I will miss it.

Do you know how many fights happen in hs all across the country that doesn't result in murder? Your logic is garbage

Was a time when men fought with their fists then laughed about it after it was over

Seriously, this person is laughably disconnected from what has been going on in school between teenager since, well, forever

As I mentioned before, "move", "make me", then a shove has to take place thousands of time per day in our schools.
yep probably lives in his mom's basement never been in any physical altercation in her life.

When we would get into a good fistfight at school, we would get suspended for three days. Sort of a mini-vacation for having had a fight.

My great-uncle started a fist fight over a parking spot in about 1939. He spent the night in jail. It's not like men have just been able to punch people without consequence.

I have not gone back and read every single post in this thread, but I would definitely caution people following this case to not develop Rittenhouse syndrome. 90% of what was being said on social media about that case turned out to be completely false.

Suspect has ditched his first defense team and gone with someone new, a Mike Howard out of north Dallas
You legal eagles, does this mean that he wasn't liking the direction his defense attorneys were steering him?

Not familiar with those firms.

Guessing more race based? I honestly do not know.

BUT this is not a race case, in the slightest.

The Rittenhouse case had clear video for all to see. How people felt about the video was up to them. This case was a high school space argument to murder in about 2 minutes. Completely different.

I'm surprised he stabbed Austin so suddenly for one push after being told to move since we haven't had an confirmation Karmelo has had any trouble with the law before now. Aside from one rumor that he was suspended for carrying a knife, which I haven't seen confirmed by any legitimate news source, nothing has come up. That is a big jump for someone who hasn't been in trouble before. Usually, it would come out that he had previously been suspended for fighting, he was getting into trouble at school, something. Aside from those two pictures on his social media, he doesn't fit the "thug life" stereotype. He comes from a home with both a mother and a father who talk about God and seem supportive of their sons and daughter. It appears he lived in a nice home and his father volunteered with troubled youth when he wasn't at work. There is a news article from 3 years ago where he saved a kid from drowning in Louisiana. The stereotype doesn't fit here.

Well that answers my question, you are not.
I'm familiar enough with the culture. I am also aware, though, that his upbringing, at least on paper, is different from the stereotypical one. For example, 75% of black children are raised without a father in the home. This was not the case for him, his two brothers, and sister. There does not appear to be a history of run-ins with the law. Understand that from everything I have heard and read, he acted 100% in the wrong. He was the instigator and escalated the situation more than Austin. He deserves to stand trial for murder and should spend the next 50 years (minimum) in jail. However, what I'm interested in is why this guy, who by all accounts seems to be one who should have bucked the culture and actually made something of himself, escalated things to the level he did where he has completely thrown his life away. What circumstances (though completely irrelevant to charges and punishment) led to this. I guess I just wish I could do a case study on him to find out why he murdered someone needlessly but managed to keep his nose clean up to that point.

Wealthy blacks commit violent crime at a higher rate than poor whites iirc. To truly break the answer to your question down would almost certainly start a massive argument on here resulting in bans.

American black culture is so broken even the seemingly good kids are violent. This is never going to change until they get off the dem plantation and start thinking for themselves and quit seeing themselves as perpetual victims.

This is absolutely true and sadly, rap music has alot to do with it as well. We've had , what , four local " rappers" die in the metroplex in the last two months. It's a terrible genre now. Back in the day it was funny and entertaining but now it's kill or be killed.

Question is: does rap influence the "culture" or does rap reflect it?

Why in Gods name would anyone want to watch a video of an innocent young man being murdered?
I just had jury duty and prayed that I wouldn't be picked to serve. It was a case of sexual assault of a child under 13 with penetration. It would have broken my heart to hear and see the details of what this guy was accused of.

The video would clear up many of the questions regarding circumstances.

No need to watch a video. You aren't the judge or jury. Details, not rumors, will be released once appropriate.

I didn't say I wanted to watch, just wondered since it would clear up a lot of rumors going around. Like all racial issues now, the longer it is drawn out the more divide that seems to come

"Judge reduces bail for Frisco stabbing suspect Karmelo Anthony"

https://www.dallasnews.com/news/courts/2025/04/14/judge-reduces-bail-for-frisco-stabbing-suspect-karmelo-anthony/

Apologies... pay wall

Here's the first couple paragraphs:

"MCKINNEY A Collin County judge has agreed to reduce the bail amount for the teenager accused of fatally stabbing another student at a high school track meet in Frisco earlier this month.

Judge Angela Tucker ruled Monday morning to lower the bail for Karmelo Anthony, 17, from $1 million to $250,000 with conditions including being under house arrest and wearing an ankle monitor."

Yeah, be glad you didn't get on that.

Friend of mine got stuck on one which also involved the perp filming it, numerous times. They had to see some of the video, thankfully with some blurring done. Basically the jury saw the part of a video which clearly IDed the defendant so there could be no question as to whether it was him or not in the video.

He said that is something he would rather not have floating around in his head.

The perp got life in prison.

Yeah, but your great-uncle very likely didn't have to worry about getting shot or stabbed for getting into an altercation. And if he had fought at school, I highly doubt he would have gone to jail. Just brief suspension most likely.

If the killer was white and the victim black, he would not even get bail.

Geez, I can't imagine being on that one. I served on one where a very attractive 20-something apartment property manager was raped by one of the painters after she went to check on the status of renovations of a unit...and it was not pleasant. Luckily he was not successful but he tried very aggressively and she had bruises and mental trauma from it etc.

I'm sure I'm going to be accused of being a lib, a concerned moderate, or a suburban white woman (I am that one), but the million dollar bond did seem high compared to other similar cases and charges. The $250,000 seems low, though.

No, the murderer walked up and sat under the victim's tent. He initiated the confrontation.
