Don't limit it to one race and don't underestimate the bleeding heart liberals who view this as some twisted way to apply some 'reparations' due to racial disparity. Their whole "KA was a victim of systemic racism and didn't know better so there is no way he is guilty" mindset can't be taken for granted.

The Derek Chauvin verdict mentioned a few posts earlier is a prime example. The jury was diverse, but the liberal mindset of 'white cop bad' allowed a guilty verdict despite the facts showing that it was clearly not murder.

I want to see some cell phone video, or something. We all know there is some kind of evidence out there showing this entire ordeal.

I would assume that all UIL events are recorded in some capacity.

Individual 'value systems'. Would be nice if all were equally good in terms of fairness and compassion...but, they're not.

If an altercation started someone has it on a cell phone video, that is what most teens do these days. I am sure one side is doing what they can to block them from being released from the public but it would shut down a lot of this drama pretty quick. Like with George Floyd the longer this draws out the less the truth matters.

Coming to the event with a knife can easily make this look premeditative, going to be difficult to say he was taking a knife to school for no reason. If Melo was being bullied to a point he felt he needed to kill the other person he would have fought back earlier.

His social media being scrubbed of all of his non-PC pictures of him flicking off the camera and holding a gun (real or not) is not a good look. Now his pictures have him in new dress clothes including a vest.

Melo's bond being dropped from $1 million to $250k and getting out only 12 days after the incident is skeptical as well. Rittenhouse had a $2 million cash bond and was in jail for months before he was allowed on the streets.

The rumors about his father's violent past and the family purchasing an $800k+ house with the GoFundMe saying the funds are for legal fees is fraud.

The fact that he illegally brought a knife to a school function is a bad start for me to think he is innocent. Maybe he was being bullied but being 17 and knowing that stabbing someone can kill them is murder. What count is up to the jury after they see all of the evidence.

I haven't searched for the link, but I'm fairly certain that the Frisco PD put out a statement acknowledging that the perp and victim did NOT know each other, and that the perp's phone was NOT smashed nor broken.
I think this was part of the barrage of social media BS that was spread early on to sew the narrative.

But, for the sake of discussion, say that this is true...it makes a fairly easy jump in logic to erase self defense and paint a clear picture that the perp sought after the victim to confront him.
I don't think this is even what the initial confrontation was about (I'm staking my mind on interrupted theft).

with over 30 eye witnesses/affidavits, there is likely going to be an easy consensus of events that transpired.
The X-factor is the jury. Voir dire is where this is won/lost (no kidding, right?). I wouldn't for a moment assume that any white female in Frisco would be anything less than a dyed in the wool liberal, which will keep jury nullification in the on deck circle through the whole case. Never, ever, underestimate Brayden/Jayden/Hayden's mother and her Ford Expedition to put logic and facts first.

Case is a made for tv drama. Does Melo risk more time rejecting a plea and putting it to a jury in 2025? Melo's fate is a political beach-ball with a lot of folks financially interested in convincing him to take the full ride. Will see what all plays out.

People keep saying Frisco, but this is a Collin County. Very few libs around here. The libs are growing a bit, but this is red territory.

When the pro-Palestinian protestors tried to setup shop on the UT-Dallas campus, Collin County quickly shut it down. I remember Steve Eager on Fox 4 mentioning that the protestors should know..... this is Collin County, not Dallas or Travis.

It's a conservative county to be sure, but there are still over 40% Democrats!

My bet is that he will violate his bail conditions and go back to county. His being incarcerated would change the calculus for his defense counsel...if they are smart, that is.

It's going to be too racially charged for this to proceed logically. Karmelo doesn't have any priors and it looks like Austin used some force (appropriate in my opinion). Karmelo is going to say that he didn't intend to kill, he just felt like he had to defend himself because he was outnumbered. He didn't go over to start beef and he just wanted to hang out. He felt Austin was being disrespectful and rude, and wanted to leave but Austin made it into an altercation.

I'm sure Austin has posted something or said something semi racial if not outright racist in the past. There is something out there that he has done that will be twisted if make him look bad.

It's going to be not that difficult to say that karmelo didn't intend to kill. He's going to cry on the stand. Say the right things. Austin isn't there to claim otherwise. Somebody on that jury is not going to want to put karmelo away for a long time. We have been conditioned that this is price of reparations, and somebody will opt to not punish karmelo.

To be clear. I think karmwlo should be locked up for a long time. But our society has gone insane so this is what's going to happen .

Team space infringement is something that gets a reaction, no matter the age, all the way to the pros. Metcalf's reaction is common place. Shockingly no one was stabbed in any of these videos. There is thousands more.

"Touch me and see" pretty much universally translates to "we are going to fight". Any new translation being a free pass to murder and call it self defense and bragging about it as "FAFO" probably only counts under certain inequity and exclusion scenarios.
