with the rumors flying that the cold blooded murderer was actually going to be able to walk at the ceremony, the deceased kid's parents just wanted to ask for that not to happen and they couldn't even get a response or a meeting and ultimately got a sheety response.
The district cannot talk about another student with anyone. "It's the law".

It was against the law for that little murderous piece of human excrement to kill Austin Metcalf by stabbing him at a FISD sanctioned event, on public school grounds, but that didn't stop him, did it?

Should have been expelled, immediately, for nothing more than carrying the weapon to the event.

Expelled, thus no diploma.

the problem with this is what about if Earl or Jim Bob gets caught with a pocket knife in their 13MWZ's out at the Ag barn they forgot was in their pocket? Expel them as well for an honest mistake? It's not as cut and dry as many want to make it out to be.

In the long run who gives a flying F if he gets a diploma or not? It will serve him no use in prison.
Apparently a lot of people. Shameful they don't think like you right? People are starting to care a lot about white people getting targeted and then shaming the white person after they've been murdered while doing a fundraiser tour. Honestly you're so wrong its insulting.

Edit: The Ags at the ag barn aren't out looking to kill someone over getting told to leave, so the honest mistake will be looked at as an honest mistake. Take a knife out when you're clearly under the wrong teams tent in your scenario would be those Ags going and sitting the sips Ag barn and pull a knife and stab someone when something gets said, which it always would. Quit defending a murderer.
I'm not defending the murder at all. My point is in education with cut and dry rules it sometimes screws over the AG barn type of kids if the rules were "get caught with a knife=expelled". You cant put that in writing for instances when a kid making an honest mistake. And with the way mommy's and daddy's complain so much with discpline these days thats how it is done.

I would have ZERO problems with Melo being expelled and not getting a degree. But I also see the other side where the district just gives him his diploma if he has the credits so they can just move along and not deal with the headaches of additional lawsuits from his black panther advocates.

I promise you I'm 100% hardass conservative, but I also see the other side from the districts point of not wanting to die on the hill of expelling him if he has the credits already to get a diploma. They are already dealing with a crap ton of problems with this murder. I understand them not wanting to have to deal with even more if they dont have to.

Again, it's a freaking high school diploma that is basically worthless in todays society. It's not that big a deal in the grand scheme of things. If he wants to hang it up in his jail cell then more power to him.
Sorry to just get back. Great post and I understand where you're coming from. In the big picture, him getting handed a high school diploma not on stage isn't a big deal and it won't bring Austin back. My thing is at some point we as a society have to stop accommodating this kind of behavior because people are scared of the blow back. We will fear the blow back until its our kid. **** these degenerates, and that's exactly how the public should treat that behavior. We're only emboldening these clowns that know all they have to do is scream racism and become millionaires. George Floyd might be the worst thing to happen to black people in this country since Africans sold their own people.

Completing state requirements to receive a diploma is a dumb hill to die on.

Now being able to walk….terrible idea…..takes focus off of other students and puts them at risk.

Met requirements, gets diploma….just like any number of other people who commit crimes or are in jail completing GED programs.

Pretty sure he had too many unexcused absences. Did not meet the standard to graduate.

The Black Panthers at least had some redeeming qualities (started modern breakfast program for kids, ardent 2A advocates), comparing these fraudulent grifters to the BPP is an insult to them.

Texas state law says if you fulfill the requirements, you receive a diploma and graduate.

What we need to do is amend that law that if you're expelled, you cannot graduate from that district. So you can transfer to a neighboring district, but you won't graduate from the district that expelled you.

Currently, expulsion is really just a trespass warning for students.

I don't know his parents, so I can't comment. The fact that they didn't realize having a career criminal and known felon like Domonique speaking for them was a piss-poor move was telling. The fact that his mother said they couldn't access the givesendgo money, then saying they needed to wait 7 days was also telling. They're not exactly deep thinkers.
