Yeah I don't agree with Irene, however, I think you misinterpreted what the others were saying. I think they were saying that some sin has more weight than others, which is true, you can use Old Testament logic to support that.
Now all sin has the same power to separate you from God. So under the new covenant I need the blood of Christ to save me just as much as Talarico and Paxton need the blood of Christ to save them. That doesn't change the weight of certain sins however. Mike Winger has a good episode of his show on YouTube about this.
Now what I'd ask is do you equate what Paxton has done with what Talarico has done? I would not. I would agree that both are probably lost, but I would weigh Talarico as much worse. Why? Because he is not just living in his own sin, he justifies sin for himself and others, and also speaks abject heresy about the truths found in both the old and New Testament. The harshest language/punishment in the New Testament is not reserved for murderers/adulterers/homosexuals/rapists, it is reserved for False Teachers. And that is why Talarico needs to be rebuked harshly, not because he may be a homosexual, but because he is leading many astray.
