First it's "Show me other star players that can do this" so I didn...then it's "well Dirk's minutes are more efficient", now it's "show me none stars that can do it." Yeah...I'm a huge fan of one dimensional post players over 7 foot that can't rebound or play defense and lets his team down by showing up for the season out of shape.

At least I can take solace in knowing that by increasing his minutes he'll increase his points AND decrease all his other stats in the playoffs. That really helped the mavs this past playoff run. Go Dirk...

I think it's so much of an upgrade that in fact, it makes us contenders for the next 10 years and we will win multiple championships and beat the Bulls record of 72 wins.

I like how prepyag labels the mavs championship as an anomaly but Dirk showing up to camp out of shape (from a lock out) as something habitually done by Dirk.

Dirk is the best offensive player in the game and his career playoff averages speak for themselves. He averages 26/10 in the playoffs but he's one dimensional and can't rebound. What a joke.

What can Dirk not do on offense?

He isn't that great at low-post scoring, back to the back stuff. Luckily, Kaman and Brand excel at that.

Dirk isn't going to slash and take a ton of players off the dribble. But he is a matchup problem because if you match him up with a taller, stronger player he can probably pull them out and get past them. If you use a shorter ,quicker player, he can take the jab step and pull back to shoot over them. Guys that give him the most fits are guys like Stephen Jackson that are strong, athletic, tenacious and long.

Regarding his 26/10 averages, good for him...it's got him one ring and more than one 1st round exit. Congrats on that one...He and Rasheed Wallace have the same amount of rings. Nice class to be in.

No, what's foolish is a mav fan saying that Dirk is the best offensive player in the game today...that's not even foolish, just plain stupid. Couple that with the previous comments that liter basketball other to include Dirk is a top 20 player all time, Dirk's better than Bird, and the mavs are a championship organization, and I'm pretty sure mav fans have the market cornered with Foolish statements.

Although I agree that Dirk is more comfortable on the wing launching 3s. Having Kaman and Brand should allow more of this, as will Collison driving to the hole and drawing attention.

Prepy, I don't have a dog in this fight but you do look a little foolish with your comments. I don't think the Mavs are a championship level team, but I don't think the Spurs are either. They are both playoff teams that go out in the first, maybe second round.

As for the dirk comments, I think it is silly to say that about him, but I could see how someone would have the opinion that he is the best offensive player in the game. He simply changes the game perhaps more than any other player today. Go small, and he goes over you. Go big and he goes around you. Very similar to putting Lebron at point guard. You have to choose where to take your medicine. What would keep him from being the best offensive player in the game for me would be his passing skills . If I had to choose best offensive player it would probably be Durant. He has a couple more years of maturing to do, but he can do everythng dirk can now.
