I'm not opening a new thread about it, because it'll just go off the rails, but I wanted to vent a bit and invite some comment on a situation I ran into last night.

Scenario: game between rival middle schools, Red vs Blue (my alma mater). Red's assistant coach is my old coach when I played for Blue.

Events: starts bad for Blue and gets worse. 7-0 after one, and would finally end 20-0 after five.

What bothered me: Red left their starting lineup in the entire game, and was stealing bases and taking extra bases even up by double digits.

My reaction: I went up to my old coach in the fifth inning and quietly told him that my team had never played that way.

Aftermath: Blue head coach posts on facebook about the game (as he does about every game), and in part, calls Red "classless." I chime in, relating what I'd said to the coach. Other people say other things.

It gets back to Red MS, whose principal calls Blue MS and demands the post be removed. It is.

Red assistant coach (my old coach) calls Blue MS and apologizes.

Will there be further repercussions? I don't know; but these schools are neighbors. They feed into the same high school, and the kids play in the same club/recreational leagues. When I was 13, I'd learned that sometimes you have to go head-hunting or go in hard to second base.

Not a fan of running up scores. Especially in baseball. For some reason I hold baseball in a higher regard than other sports. The respect for the game is higher. It is revered by those that have played it. And we honor its inherent integrity. Those that don't honor it should be reminded. I'd hope most would recognize this.

Sox game is cancelled today and the PD/FBI have caught the second suspect!!!

I hope they get what they need out of this coward.

Any normal person just simply happy their team won (and without an agenda) would've said something to this effect: "Wow the orioles really got lucky there on those 2 missed called 3rd strikes on mcclouth. Glad they were able to take advantage of those mistakes and steal a win!"

But go ahead and keep defending the enemy at every turn chowdah. Glad to see some real Sox fans pop up in the last week (BW, txags11, and xaggie). Hopefully they stick around so I have some knowledgeable people to talk baseball with (in addition to AK of course).

Sox win their 7th in a row. I have major concerns about Bailey, though. He has been erratic and victim of the long ball this week. Hope he gets it straightened out!

Today is an interesting day for Sox fans. The Sox have Ryan Dempster on the bump for game one. Game two has a rookie call up from Pawtucket, Allen Webster. He was a relief pitcher in Portland last season.

I like watching new pitchers toss their first game. If they have some stuff, they have a small advantage as the hitters haven't seen them.

Lets see 9 in a row!!!!

Webster is one of the two main prospects that came over in the blockbuster deal with the dodgers last august (along with Rubby De La Rosa who was the higher of the two prospects)

Webster made only 2 STARTS for portland last year after the trade.

Had a tremendous spring training and has allowed only 1 ER over his first 2 starts with the Pawsox and struck out 12 batters over 10 IP
