Sox were extremely fortunate to win tonight's game. The offense K'd 12 times (many of which came w/RISP)

doubront was very average but managed to minimize damage in most cases.

This is definitely a game they woulda found a way to lose last year though, so that's something.

Regarding Chris Davis... Whatever it is, as that lady in the diner said, I'll have what he's having.

But the Rays come back tonight behind Matt Moore's 6 inning, 8 K performance, shutting out the Indians 4-0. Ben Zobrist is quietly having an excellent start to 2013 as well.

What davis is doing is crazy, but somebody (usually a relative unknown) always starts each season ridiculously hot. Anyone remember that guy for the tigers who went nuts for the first few weeks like 3 or 4 years go (chris shelton maybe)?

33 and 85 last year; 800+ OPS.

The power is and always has been legit with Davis.

He's streaky like any pure power hitter.

As I predicted, RA Dickey is getting his ass kicked in the AL so far. This isn't shocking, but he''ll have to work hard to dig deep and rectify this.

In the meantime, my yanks are 1-4. Someone shoot me

Go to Chicago or DC, I'm sure someone might oblige you.

But the Yankees are only two back. The season is young.

What percentage of token's posts begin with these 3 words or something very similar? Gotta be at least 25% Don't strain your arm patting yourself on the back there chief.

Bats woke up today and pounded Dickey (get it) and the Canadians 13-0. They hit 6 bombs and Lester was solid for 7 innings. I'll take a 4-2 road start against divisional opponents every day of the week.

If Token shows up, its either somethng he predicted or the yanks won. At least he's consistent.

Meanwhile, the O's are about to lose to the Twins again. Tillman and Hammel have had back to back meh outings and now Reimold's hurt.

And the feast or famine Rays pitchers are at it again as well. Down 11-0 in the ninth.

I CALLED dickey getting smacked around in when he was trying to get signed to the extension

quote:
Can someone explain why he deserves any sort of contract extension? He signed a contract and he should honor it. As a 38 year old pitcher, especially a knuckleballer, the wheels can fall off VERY fast. See Tim Wakefield

Congrats, never said you didn't. And way to go out on a big limb there, calling a 38 year old knuckleballer's career demise.

I was just calling to attention the fact that you prance over here every single chance you get to remind us when one of your Nostradamus-like predictions come true

I don't make many predictions on here, but I was laughed at by many when I said that. That being said, I can't even remember many predictions that went dead ass wrong in the past couple of seasons other than when I thought the orioles were a fluke last year and would fade and AJ Burnett making a comeback in 2011. I'm not even close to Reed Mckinzie type off because I call it how I see it. I'm not a know it all. If I was, I'd be hired to give my opinions.

Yeah, lucky us. We get his opinions for free.

I think the same predictions could be made of any NL pitcher who moves to the AL.

When was the last dominant NL pitcher who remained dominant after being moved up into the big big leagues?

Also - John Lackey continues to be an albatross around the Sox's neck. Used to be able to say he had a hot wife as a "if nothing else" statement, but can't even give him that anymore.

Hiroki Kuroda is the latest example, but it's not very common
Dropkicked Murphy
How long do you want to ignore this user?
kuroda is a very consistent above average starter, but I don't consider him to be dominant at all

Ironically, Kuroda actually performed above his previous expectations. However he was a sub .500 pitcher for the Dodgers. So a winning record is certainly unexpected!

Daniel Nava takes everbody wang chung deep for a 3-run jack in the 7th

Buch went 7 shutout innings

7 innings, 3 hits, 0 ER, 8 SO!!!!

Nice game (and season start) for Buch!!!

He had a top 10 ERA and WHIP and top 5 WAR last year.
Dropkicked Murphy

So you're saying you'd be fine having Kuroda be the ace of your staff?
LeonardSkinner
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'd take Kuroda as my #5 instead of Carmona-Hernandez
Dropkicked Murphy
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'd happily take kuroda as the Sox #3 behind Lester and Buchholz (for this season)
Say Chowdah

So we can all agree that if Kuroda is the best transition in recent history, saying a NL pitcher is going to get rocked in the AL isn't a difficult prediction to make?

Good job Token!!!!

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Jake Peavy maybe?? he has been injury-prone though

Beckett was solid coming from the marlins up until 2 seasons ago

it really is hard to think of many off the top of my head
Dropkicked Murphy

Schilling from '04-08 was pretty dominant

Kuroda with a shaky first inning, and steady hand the rest of the way as the yanks are up 11-3
LeonardSkinner
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah, Beckett/Schilling are probably it.

Not exactly a strong probability of success if it took us this long to find TWO dominant pitchers in the last 20 years!!! TWO!!!

Speaking of guys moving from Montreal to the American League, isn't that what Randy Johnson did, albeit very early in his MLB career?
LeonardSkinner
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I dunno, Pedro had one excellent year with the Expos before going over to the Red Sox, where he really shined.

Maybe that's comparable to Dickey, who had his one terrific year with the Mets before going to the Jays. But I'm not sure it's the same as "a dominant NL pitcher becoming a dominant AL pitcher."
Say Chowdah

What NL team did Pedro pitch for? Going through all of them and not one team rings a bell. Almost like that memory (and team) just vanished!!!
