If the yanks made the playoffs, a compelling argument for Girardi could be voiced. He's navigated a real circus troupe/MASH unit hybrid and kept the team focused and in the hunt.

tough loss that puts the yanks out the playoffs.

Oh and joe g should top 2 for manager of the year. They had more injury problems than the complaining, chicken and beer eating, *****ing red sox did last year and almost made the playoffs. They never blamed injuries or anything else. They had the overblown a-rod saga, and no one even flinched on that team. They never quit, either. This is easily the most proud i've been of a yankees team since the 2000 team that won the WS.

Hmmm...

A-Gon, Pedroia, Ellsbury, and Ortiz played 146+ games, Crawford 130, Youk 120, Scutaro 113, etc...

Tex, A-Rod, Jeter, Granderson, etc... pretty much all had a lost season.

It seems like it was the 2010 Red Sox that really took it on the chin moreso than the 2011 squad.

More interesting is that the 2011 chicken and beer team was one game away from making the playoffs. Remember they got pushed out on the last game...

It cost Francona his job.

Valentine did deal with his share of injuries but so did Francona. They had a revolving door starting lineup. It was frustrating because you had NO idea who was going to start from game to game.
