Umps at it again.
Price throws a good pitch, called a ball, and is upset. Walks around a moment, steps on the rubber, throws the same pitch and gets a weak 1-3 groundout to end the inning.
He walks off the field to the dugout, still a little annoyed and appears to be talking to himself. His night is over anyway.
Umpire goes over towards the 1st base foul area and tells Price to "just throw the ball," or to "just throw the ****ing ball," depending on who you ask.
I'm a homer, so I believe the Rays, especially given that they all reacted immediately, giving the umpire a hard time. The ump then ejects Hellickson.
The postgame is equally contentious, with the Rays commenting during the interviews, Price tweeting repeatedly, and the umpire answering questions as well.
The ump calls Price "a liar" but admits telling him to "just throw the ball."
The punchline? The umpire also said that Price didn't say anything to him, but that Price's "body language" indicated he was "pissed off," prompting him to speak out.
The second and third jokes are that the Rays will likely get dinged for talking about it out of turn (plus whatever Helly gets); and that the umpire gets to keep on rolling.
